Steering screaming

Please help. My steering just started screaming and heavy when stationary but ok when in motion. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance 

sounds to me like a slipping auxiliary belt.

 

Hydraulic power steering on this Ivan, rather than electric? If hydraulic then you should have a power steering fluid reservoir, and a belt driven pump - as Jonathan says.

Thanks guy's. The belt isn't slipping and I've just topped the power steering reservoir up a little. It wasn't running empty but it has eased the steering a bit. Still whining though..
