Gearbox

Featured Replies

Hi my cars just come up with a gearbox malfunction no reverse gear but can keep driving fault on the dash. Doesn’t seem to be selecting gears 2 and 4 if you turn off ignition and start back up it runs for a while with no problem then fault comes back and same thing with not selecting the gears any ideas or has this happened to anyone on here thanks.

Is the car automatic or manual??

Automatic

Try checking your fluid level, if that fails you really need to take it to a specialist

I just bought this 2 weeks ago I took it straight back to dealer earlier was just wondering if anyone has had this fault I’ve read an s5 had the exact same fault on the dash and new gearbox was what was needed?

Oh well your sorted then take it back to the dealer and let them sort it! The thing with auto boxes is there so complex it could literally be a number of things but from previous experience with auto cars I always start with the fluid level as the boa works on pressure then I’d check for any leaks and so on.
