Suspect Wheel Bearing Issue

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Two days ago, I was driving from London to Cardiff and noticed an unusual humming noise as the car speeds up.  It can be heard from 25 mph+ and it becomes louder as it speeds up.  The engine and transmission seems to be ok as I have tried higher rev and different gears, but the sound is still there and not change.  I have brought it to a local Audi specialist and they have diagnosed to be a front wheel bearing issue.

The local Audi specialist will charge around 220 pounds and I'm waiting for a quote from main Audi dealership.

Anyone had the same issue before and also what would you go for? Local specialist or Main Dealer?

It seems a bit strange that part has failed as my Audi A4 16 plate only have 40000 miles.  But I did recall hitting a pothole along M25, may be that caused it to fail.

Appreciate for all your help.

Hi find local independent garage to fit it, specialist garages are getting as imaginative as the main dealers.

Steve.
