Audi A3 1.0 TFSI - Ticking sound?

Featured Replies

Hello!

So I’ve had my first Audi for about a year now and ever since I’ve had it, the engine always makes a ticking sound. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s 1.0 or because it’s 3 cylinder but it’s always worried me if it’s normal. It’s recently passed it’s MOT but wondering if anyone has any ideas and/or how to fix it? Also has 60K miles.

thanks 🙂

ps I've attached a video if that helps in any way?

Hi you nailed it on the first two suggestions, 1.0 and three cylinder I suspect its the same engine as the VW UP Seat MII they all rattle I think its just a characteristic of these small engines, in fact all small engines rattle in my experience try listening to a small Peugeot or Citroen they are a lot worse, as long as its not using oil and not knocking it will be fine.

Steve.
