First proper snow on the road with my new 2021-A6 Avant S-tronic (FWD)

Featured Replies

Sort of a newbie here with regards to Audi brand as well as the features. I struggled tonight managing to ascend slight inclines. My partner had to get out and push several times.

Before we jump straight to snow tyres which is likely the default recommendation. Though I’ve never had the same problem with my VW estate (similar weight and power).

Any tips/tricks? One of the most annoying things that happened tonight was that the car on detecting slip at low rpm cut the power, even after disabling traction control completely and in manual mode 2nd gear. Seems like an anti-stall feature.

I tried to avoid Quattro models simply because the general increased service costs relating to transmission including tyres. Now I’m wondering whether that would have been the better option as an all rounder. I do a lot of business miles.

Hi,

I used to live in the highest village in Scotland for many years,

driving an A4 FWD, we had some very bad snowfalls, I always

had 2 spare wheels fitted with winter tyres, which I fitted to the

front about November time, I found that with these tyres on, the

car would go through very deep snow without a problem,

believe me, they are well worth the extra expense.

hope this helps

Brian.
