Maximum size of USB stick for music files

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone offer any advice as to the maximum size of usb stick that will work for music files, I have a Samsung 128gb Bar which works fine but when I tried to increase it to a 256gb Bar it keeps coming up with a message saying 'Files cannot be read from this device' I have tried it in all four usb slots in my car but no luck, I have also tried two other 256gb sticks but with the same result so am wondering if the maximum size is 128gb ?? (ps I know the sticks are fine because they work in my wife's Mercedes)

Thanks in advance

Steve

I found a solution to this problem when the memory stick is formatted it defaults to FAT (Default) but when I formatted it to exFAT it works fine so hopefully if anyone else is having this problem then try this fix 😊

There are file size and compatability limits to the various formats, which have caused me problems putting music on USB sticks. My main computer runs a Linux OS formatted to ext4, so I have to make a point of remembering to format USB sticks to either FAT32 or exFAT if I want to use them in the car.
