Can anyone tell me what on earth this cakey white soot like residue is on the pipe when I popped my bonnet this morning

Looks to be deposited by some ‘outside influence’. Have you looked at the under- bonnet insulation?

Thanks Gareth, No i havent but I will check

I did it get washed not under the hood but just exterior thoroughly the other day wonder if its just soap residue

I was worried it was something more sinister
