Head Unit for A3 8PA

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’ve recently got a A3 8PA and I’m looking for a head unit - very simplistic one.

i can’t seem to find any that fit - does anyone know if it’s possible in this model variant and any recommendations?

Welcome Chris, and thanks for joining.
Could you let us know whether you are looking to replace the original (Concert-I think) set up with something different, or don’t you currently have anything fitted?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay! I’m looking for an Android one yeah to replace the Concert.

Theres so many, but I just don’t know which one will work and which harness or wiring setup to use with them. I don’t want to do custom splicing and etc 😄

Would appreciate any links or kits people may have used

Chris.

I looked into doing exactly that a few years ago, but eventually did not order anything because all of what was available at the time required me to cut and join wires without clear instructions.

Do you have the half amplified or bose system?

I have the non bose and found a fitting kit with looms and facia adapter for £20 odd on ebay.

How do we know if it’s Bose or not?

The big sticker on the top has the wiring diagram

Half amplified loom https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291213205704?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=v9O2xiFoQQ6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=jXAV2kTOQHK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I think this is the bose one

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185943774032?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=g_UaOp-ZS5a&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=jXAV2kTOQHK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Then depending on the year of car ypu will need a single or double facia adaptor To fit in the centre console.

Those 2 links seems to be for the same product - the half amplified :)

leythdave you can tell if it's a Bose system by the 2x 6x9's in the near side boot panel

I think I may have solved the problem in a fashion. Separate Apple car play unit mounted to the dash with an FM transmitter using the stereo system.
Would this work?

It will work if you want to keep the car original, fm transmitters are a bit naff.
