Coolant Loss

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Need your help.

2004 Audi 3 2.0 TDI 3 door hatchback.

using a hell of a lot of coolant, looks like the head gasket as its smoking like mad, there is no signs of water in the oil,

And no signs of water under the car, what would the approx cost be to carry out the repair at a Audi dealers,or anyone recommend someone in the Northwest,I am in no hurry so they could have the car as long as they want,

Cheers

Hi Taza

To have the work done at a dealership, you'd be likely to pay anything from £1200+ mostly due to the £100 hourly rate. Unfortunately I can't suggest a garage to you but you should find a reputable specialist on the internet. You would be looking nearer £700 going to a specialist rather than main dealer.

Hope that helps a little

If you aren't in a hurry then you could obviously ask a few garages for quotes. Shopping around is always the best way to get a good bargain.

Head gasket is £550 plus vat this inc head crack test and skim new belt kit and water pump .

Sounds a good price to me. My Dad had a BM that had a Head Gasket go on him and it cost him more than his car was worth to get it fixed.
