s3 fuel gauge fault

hi.i have just replaced the fuel filter on my 2001 s3 and now the gauge only reads 3/4 of a tank when i have just filled it up.any ideas.cheers,max.

gauge moves fine,but shows about 1/4 of a tank less than what is actually in it.also had plugs changed at the same time.starts and runs perfect.

I would guess it's the sensor in the tank that's gone wrong. Sounds as though it's not detecting the right amount of fuel. Worth a further look anyway.

It might be worth removing the fuse for the instrument cluster and leaving it out for half an hour (with the ignition off) then re-fitting it. I can't promise that will work, but its worth a try for nothing.
