Several Issues - Stuttering when starting

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am having a few issues with my 2019 Audi A6 Avant. When starting the car it sounds like it is struggling to start up and will sometimes come up with a start/stop fault warning light, followed by drive system fault contact workshop. This is also sometimes followed by various other warning lights such as the auto beam assist, audi pre sense, washer fluid. The car also cuts out of cruise control if being used longer than 40/50 minutes then goes into D mode instead of a gear when taking my foot off the accelerator at any time, the cruise control will start working again if the car is restarted.

I have had the car into Audi regarding all these issues and they couldn't find any fault so cleared the stored codes and then driving long distance the next day the drive system fault came on again, so it is booked back in for 16th April. I am just wondering if anyone has had any similar issues and could shed some light on what it may be since Audi themselves cannot find anything wrong and charge £150 fee for every diagnostic issue that is investigated and there is several.

This morning the car failed to start this time and came up with the drive system fault contact workshop as pictured. Putting the engine off and starting it again seemed to work.

Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Some of those problems are symptomatic of a failing battery, so I suggest you get it professionally tested before doing anything else. By that I mean a deep discharge test, not a multimeter voltage reading, at an auto electrician or independant Audi specialist.

The tester should provide you with a printed report of the battery condition, which at six years old is well past its sell by date. If he does not give you a printed report he has not done the test properly and you should go elsewhere. Some folk recommend Halfords for this job; I do not.

If a new battery is required ensure the fitter codes it to the car. Once you have a reliable stable power source from the battery you may find other faults disappear, but even if they don't, only a good battery will give sensible answers in any further diagnosic tests.

Audi just called, battery not charging past 70% then draining after starting the car once. It also has a non genuine windscreen on it so the camera for lane assist pre sense etc can’t function properly because the tint is different.

Hopefully these two things sort all the issues 🙏🏼

They done a software update instead or changing the windscreen…. They think this might fix the issues. The battery has also been replaced and coded.
