7-up Posted Saturday at 10:57 PM Posted Saturday at 10:57 PM I have have a 1990s Cabriolet with black carpets but I fancy some original beige carpets were changed. I've no details of the original car's spec but could there be any code number on any chassis plate which tells me what colour original carpets were? Regards Nigel
Magnet Posted Sunday at 11:08 AM Posted Sunday at 11:08 AM Hello Nigel, What would be your route to acquiring a beige carpet for the car, if you could find a colour code? Finding a carpet in useable condition for a 30 year old car would be a bit of an ask - in my opinion. Getting one made and moulded would likely cost 2 arms and 2 legs. Alternative:-why not fit tailored beige overmats over your black carpet? You should find plenty of sellers on eBay offering variations on carpet quality and edge sewing choices. Please let us know what you think Nigel. Kind regards, Gareth.
7-up Posted Sunday at 08:26 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:26 PM Gareth, its a good answer , but sadly my needs are different. I'm trying to find out if the newer carpets in this car are the same colour as the priginal
Magnet Posted Sunday at 09:08 PM Posted Sunday at 09:08 PM Nigel, I’m not attempting to find answers, simply because I (and possibly other forum members) did not know the precise reason for the question. Is it somewhat purist to ascertain whether a later variant ( if the same fit) of beige is the same shade as what may have been fitted to your model - but of course wasn’t, since yours was fitted with black carpet? Still rather confusing, but….
7-up Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago Sorry but I have no idea what your recent message is trying to say. Turning to my original post I am merely asking if any kind of chassis plate may tell me what the original carpet's colour was. I know the current ones are not the original carpets.
Magnet Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Thank you Nigel, We now understand your request, since you have explained it far more clearly than you did in your opening post. If you had done that, the actual situation - which only you knew - would have been less confusing. For the rest of the membership, this is as I see it:- Your particular car was originally fitted with a beige carpet, but someone - at some time - has replaced this with a black carpet. You now want to replace this black carpet with an original example of a beige one. As I see it, the particular colour code of this carpet is not really necessary, since wherever you intend getting it from, ( where would that be?) there will only be one beige variant for your model year. Hopefully this qualifies the situation. Regards, Gareth.
