eemew57 Posted Tuesday at 06:43 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:43 PM A trivial issue but its starting to niggle. Q2, 1.5 petrol. I thought it might be battery related as car is over 5 years old now, the start/stop kept turning off too, so I changed the battery and it is still happening, the digital clock on the MMI radio screen goes off at the same time as a single 'beep' occurs. No warning lights and I can find no info on this phenomenom. I usually have my phone plugged in with android auto showing google maps, which has its own clock, so it isn't much of an issue for me. I know its trivial but I need to know why its happening. Any ideas appreciated Thanks.
cliffcoggin Posted yesterday at 04:31 PM Posted yesterday at 04:31 PM Did you get the new battery coded to the car? It needs to be for full functionality.
eemew57 Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago As far as I am aware, National Tyre Service's changed it, but the issue started before I had the battery changed. I was also intermittently losing the stop/start function so I wondered whether some electrical functions were being shut down to conserve battery ? But I was probably wrong as I cannot find this documented anywhere. I just find it odd.
cliffcoggin Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Stop/start failure and unrelated electronic problems are typical of a failing battery. A new battery alone will not solve them unless it is coded to the car when fitted. You need to confirm whether that was done before looking for other causes for the faults.
eemew57 Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Thanks Clifford, I did confirm that the battery needed coding to the car with the garage prior to the work, so I can only assume that they have done this. I'll check this later myself, but I'm fairly certain its been done. Edited 10 hours ago by eemew57 Update
Steve Q Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago At least you can rule out the battery. It might be worth getting a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up
