Sealant advice

Featured Replies

I picked up a 2020 Q5 a couple of weeks ago, and it looks like the tyre sealant/compressor are the original ones. I can't find a 'use before' date on the sealant. I don't want to get caught out so will buy a new bottle.

My question is - What brands of sealant have people used, and would recommend?

I've done a bit of research, and can see that there are 'Valve remove' and 'Through valve' sealants available.

I much prefer the idea of the 'Valve remove' type - From my experience with bicycle tyres, they are thicker and should be much better at sealing holes than the 'Through valve' ones which are thinned down so that they flow better.  There is also no risk of the valve getting blocked up.

Hello Gary,

Our non-Audi came with the goo and compressor arrangement - to my disliking - so I bought a secondhand space saver tyre and Jack to replace it. Well worth searching EBay.

Regards,

Gareth.

Thanks Magnet

In principle, I don't mind the Goo & Compressor idea, and I don't want to take up boot space with a loose spare wheel (My vehicle is a hybrid, so any original spare wheel cavity is now full of battery).

Hence, my question - What brands of sealant have people used and would recommend?
