Hi go find a sensible garage for pity's sake, if it was seized the start spray would not have got it going again, absent any recent service might even be a blocked fuel filter, the braking thing is most likely worn/warped discs, dont give the clowns a happy Christmas at your expense, you can tell they are wrong uns as they are quoting telephone numbers before they have diagnosed what's wrong if the engine cranks it aint seized.

Hi if it was seized I very much doubt cranking would even be an option in the last 40 years I have seen many seized engines and the general rule is they start to rattle the oil light comes on and they squeal like crazy before they stop.

Hi Steve when the AA bloke came he sat in & turned key then had a look & then sprayed the start spray & got me to turn key x2 times , so if it were seized , he wouldn’t of waisted time on getting me to try surly ? The car had been running fine until you stopped with foot on brake & just wasn’t ticking over properly when sat idling / stationary like it was being starved of fuel then soon as accelerated then run fine no lights no smoke no fumes no other signs so now to be told by the Garage that it seized I’m just a bit confused

Martin.

Let me repeat what Steve and I have already said: the engine is not seized. It may be worn, it may have a fuel fault, it may have a blocked DPF, it may be suffering any number of other faults which could be expensive to repair, but it is not seized.

Let us move on to what is really wrong. Evidently your garage is not interested in fault finding and simply wants to replace the engine, so I suggest you take it elsewhere for a diagnosis.

Have you tried to see if a injector is stuck open? Seems to be a common fault on these that the injectors go faulty, and if one gets stuck open there won't be enough pressure in the fuel rail to get the rest of the cylinders to fire.

If you crank and after a couple of cranks there is a hydrolocking sound there's a good chance this is the problem.

But like everyone here has said if it cranks it's not seized. Find a new garage mate.
