Mild hybrid

Featured Replies

Dear members. Please could I have opinions on living with the A3 mild hybrid system. I’m considering buying a new saloon, but only do approximately 3k a year, mostly town driving.

Thanks in advance

Alex.

Search these forums for problems related to "mild hybrid". In particular see

Personally I would not touch one with a barge pole in view of Audi's outrageous behaviour to its customers.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve been reading the posts , and it’s a pity to read such things, as I really like the look of the car. It might be wise to avoid as you say.

Apologies for jumping in Cliff and Alex, but ‘……I really like the look of the car.’. Dangerous territory is that! Falling in love with a vehicle often leads to disappointment.

Regards,

Gareth.

Gareth, yes, totally agree with you on that. Heart over head springs to mind.

It’s such a pity that most new cars today have too much technology in them, rendering them potentially troublesome, both when new, and certainly after a few years.

I don’t believe so.

There are still petrol only versions of the a3 new 2026 plate the 116 and 150.

  • Author

Really? I’d thought they were all not available now , I’ll have to make enquiries then …thank you

  • Author

Joe6….thank you. I’ve just contacted them, and yes, it seems they do do pure petrol.

Self charging, but having found out they still do a stand alone petrol, I will put an order in

Worth checking prices with firms like carwow. Can get some really good deals at times especially if there are sales targets to meet. Many years ago got a Ford Escort xr3i at dealer buy in price.

Yes Joe, it’s worth checking I agree :)

I'm into year 2 with my hybrid diesel sq5 , it's been faultless so far . My trips to work are 6 miles, I do a few longer trips out 30 miles say , and the occasional 100 mile plus journey. Now the weather has warmed up a bit , the ' gliding ' from battery is becoming more and more . Can't fault it tbh.

Great to hear the hybrid can be fine for short commutes, thank you.
