Knocking noise

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone help. I have an Audi 2016 a4 sline. I have been getting a knocking noise which I think is coming from the rear of the car. This only happens at low. Speed when I’m driving in urban areas. It’s fine at high speed. It’s gradually getting worse. It sounds like something is rattling under my car. I’ve had in in my local garage they can’t find the problem. Any ideas will be much appreciated. Steve

Hello Steve,

Thanks for being in touch. There could be numerous reasons why you have this knocking noise, and the reality is that no one on here will be able to identify the cause without access to the car and inspection facilities, although you are likely to receive responses such as ‘ could be this/that’.

The fact that your garage cannot identify the cause, does not mean there isn’t one! Try another garage.

My guesses, and only guesses they can, are broken spring close to ends, spring mounts, ARB links - the list goes on.

Please let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Gareth.
