Hi, im after some advice/help?

I purchased a set of oem audi wheels, there 17s ET45. I went to have them fitted yesterday, the rear looks perfect but the front the tyres sit on the suspension leg. Ive searched and asked questions, im told 10mm spacers on the front will sort the problem but im a little concerned overtime it could cause problems?

All the pics ive searched/seen the c4s range from 17s to 19s all round

Thank you 🙂

Tyres that rub on the suspension leg will certainly cause problems, to put it mildly. While spacers might solve the problem they are bodge. You would do better to buy wheels with a greater offset.

When you say greater offset do you mean less? My originals i have on are 15s but they look lost in the wheel arches, ive looked at numerous pics of c4s with what ranges from 17s to 19s.

Like you say I dont really want to go down the spacer route and with them being on the front aswell.

Thanks for the advice, ill have a shop around and see what decent wheels I can find 👍

Ideally you need to measure front and rear wheel arch gap. Going to an et35 is the same as putting a 10mm spacer as long as the width is the same, as going wider alters the amount of spacer required or offset required.

Hi Rob,

There are some really helpful sites on the internet that can steer you through the minefield of offsets, wheel widths, tyre sizes and profiles www.willtheyfit.com and www.wheel-size.com to name just two, but there are others. They are relatively straightforward and you are asked to specify your current set up and then you can input your favoured sizes and the site will quickly tell you how your favoured sizes will fit and importantly sit on the vehicle. You can input as many size options as we want and as many times as you want, I was over a 12 months trying to find alloys and tyres to fit my S7 and eventually with the help of aforementioned sites I eventually found a set of wheels I liked and that would fit. No spacers, just extra length wheel bolts (from H&S) to accommodate the different offset. The other thing to bear in mind, but on an A6 (not an S6) I think you should be ok, is the physical size of the front brake callipers. For me this was an additional problem. Anyway like you, I wanted alloys that filled my arches, that didn't stick out and didn't look ridiculous.

I hope I achieved it, but its very subjective!!!

Hope this is helpful & best of luck
