2021 A3 (8Y) Etron charging with intelligent Octopus Go

Featured Replies

Is anybody having trouble charging with Octopus Go. I have been trying for 2 weeks to get my A3 to charge without success. I have at octopus's suggestion fitted a new 12v Battery (new battery was coded to the car) and that night full charge was successful. Since then small amount of charge or nothing. I have switched off the car timers as Octopus suggest to no avail. Interestingly after a failed charge one of the timers has changed to a random date in the future. Communication with the car does not seem to be a problem as Octopus are able to switch the charge off when I plug in outside the cheap rate hours (11.30.to 05.30) as normal.

I have switched off any charge settings in the my audi app - again at octopus suggestion

Octopus are suggesting that there may be a problem with the AUDI cloud servers.

Any input welcome

Thanks

Mike.

Is that a new problem or has charging always been troublesome?

It is not clear to me what device is supposedly controlling charging. Is it [1] a wall mounted charge point, [2] the car itself, or [3] the Audi app on your phone? Can you clarify please? All three have timers which can conflict with each other.

[1] and [3] both require an internet or mobile signal, [2] needs no external service and hence one might expect it to be more reliable , however history on this forum has proven the matter of car charging to be problematic to say the least.

My own experience of car charging via five different wall boxes was a nightmare that only ended when I got rid of them all, and reverted to a simple plug in charge point (the so-called granny charger) with a built in delay timer. I have to admit that was more to do with the car's inadequate software than any deficiencies of the wall boxes, but it has made me aware that it is too easy for those companies to pass the blame for faults on to each other.
