Ticking engine

Featured Replies

Just bought an Audi A4 1997 1.8 and when I start the car it has a ticking noise which goes when I rev upto around 1500-2000 rpm, when the engine is warm the ticking stays. Haven't really looked about the engine to know if its localized in 1 place. Not sure when the oil was last changed in the car, if anyone has any ideas then that would be great.

Could be the chain cam tensioner. Can be quite a common fault.

I have exactly the same noise on same engine and thats where it sounds like its coming from
