Audi A3 Alloy Wheels scratched by Audi Main Dealer during Service

Featured Replies

Hi All,

New to the Forum, so looking for some pointers/advice.

This weekend, I took my Audi A3 for a service to the local Audi main dealer.

I chose to wait while they serviced the car . . . 5 hours later I got the keys back.

The young chap went through the service report with me and then escorted me to the car.

Fortunately it was sunny so as I got closer I saw the front driver side alloy was horrendously scratched.

Then proceeded to the passenger side and saw an equally unsightly scratch along the wheel.

The passenger side even have some of the silver coating still hanging off which flaked away on touch.

I am 110% confident these wheels were not in this condition when given to them.

There was only a small scuff mark on the passenger side when i was forced to the side for a passing ambulance last month.

The garage denied all responsibility, claimed they have an even leveled forecourt so impossible to scratch the wheel.

Yet they would have still took the car for a test drive off-site after the service, as there was a warranty fault they fixed.

They offered to 'refurb' one and I pay for the second (£79 each).  I was furious!!!! Why should i pay for something they have damaged.  I pay good money to a dealer that is 'supposed' to treat my vehicle with the highest level of care.

It is supposed to come back in better condition than when I leave it with them.  Instead I get my vehicle returned with two scuffed/scratched front alloys.

They today have said they will refurb both for free.

As i do not know what refurb actually entails . . .

Is refurb still as solid as original alloy,  will the refurb part potentially have a shorter life,  is there ever a colour match issue,  what if there is an issue 18 months later with the refurb...this would not be the case had the wheel not been damaged.  Am I justified to request for a undamaged wheel as replacement?

They still have not given any explanation as to how my vehicle was damaged . . . and continue to deny all responsibility.

Level of confidence to purchase any Audi from this garage . . . Zero ! ! !

Fortunate as sister was going to order an S6 in 3 weeks when her Merc lease expires.
