Timing belt change

Featured Replies

Good evening ladies and gents,

Looking for some advise regarding my A3 I bought last June. It has come to my attention that the timing belt should have been changed last June when I bought the car but was never done. It was bought from a Ford dealer so I would expect them to notice that it needed changing...

After some research, the 1.9 BXE engines are suppose to have the belt changed every 5 years/ 80,000 miles. The car was 5 years old while on the forecourt (First registered on 31/5/2009) so I would like them to replace it, especially as my 3 year guarantee will be void if I change it myself which is obviously a lot cheaper for me.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? I know I should have checked if it had been done but I thought that they would do it as part of their service before I bought it.

Thanks in advance,

Jon

My local Audi garage told me it needs changing either 120,000 miles or 5 years (whichever comes first)
