Running on fan

Featured Replies

At 106,000 miles the fan on my 2008 2.7 TdI Saloon S Line Le Mans has decided to run on for about 30 seconds after I turn the engine off.  If I turn the ignition on and off  without starting the engine, the fan still starts up for about 30 seconds.  Thoughts please.

Has it always done this? My first guess would be something like a faulty fan controller?

Hi James.  The fan started running on when the car got to 106,000 miles! Never done it before then. The car is 7 years old. Started about six months ago.

To me it sounds like the temperature sensor. It could be that it's on the way out and is causing the car to think it's hot when it is not. I'm not exactly sure on the price but I don't seem to recall them being that expensive so may be worth a try!
