Upgrading to a multifunctional steering wheel

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2009 a3 1.9tdi and would like to upgrade to a multifunctional steering wheel, does anyone know if the wiring will be there to plug and play or is this a bit of a bigger job?

I've not tackled this myself before, but from what I've read, it's not quite that simple.

You need to have a compatible "highline" ecu. Even if you do have this, the wheel will require coding to the car.

If you don't, you will need to get the ecu and code this to the car as well as the steering wheel. Also, you may need a new airbag wiring harness.

It's definitely possible but if you need the ecu I guess it could get quite expensive.

Let us know how you get on with this  :)
