Fuel filter changed now car doesn't start

Featured Replies

Unless I put the key in for 5 seconds then turn the diesel engine.

If I turn straight away the engine just turns.  Used to start 1st time always until the fuel filter was changed. Car runs normally once started.

Could it be air In the fuel?

I take it you're waiting for the glow plug light to go out?

Yes. Think it's a loose connector back to the fuel filter that was changed. It rud and drives fine just starting takes 5 secs or so. Guess it could be air getting into the fuel

And does it ALWAYS start if you leave the key in for 5 seconds? Is this on ignition?

  • Author

Yes. Think it's allowing the fuel to prime. However if I do it before it used to start 1st time. Now it'll just turn... I know that the only thing that has changed has been the fuel filter change.....

Strange - what about the fuel pump or fuel pump relay?
