Belt/Bearing Squeaking

Featured Replies

Got an Audi A4 2007 and the best infront of my radiator which is known as serpentine/accessories belt there is a squeak coming from that area, im in two minds if its from the belt, as the belt tension is fine its not too tight, not too lose. And there is no signs of wear and tear on it. So there is a squeaking noise coming from close to their, im thinking its a ball joint/bearing in the pully, anyone have any experience with this?

Will upload a video tomorrow of the belt, and sound if that helps - just want a little bit of closure on the problem.

PS Alternator is fine as checked it and the battery is fine and keeping itself charged, so can't be the alternator (Which a mechanic told me before)

Hi John...welcome to the Forum!

If it is the belt running dry, you can gently pour some water onto it as it is running (careful of finger!) and it the noise disappears I would replace the belt.

If it doesn't chances are it could be the belt tensioner/bearing.
