Audi 80 2.0 ABT Engine 1992/1993 Distributor Cap Question

Featured Replies

Hi Folks.

I currently own a 1992/1993 K reg Audi 80. It is a 2.0 L  ABT engine.  I am currently in the process of changing the Distributor Cap. I have bought it and tried to fit it by lining up the rotor.  I also labelled the HT Leads with numbers and put them back where I thought that they should go.I have re fitted the new cap and it is now not starting up - it is misfiring when I turn the key in the ignition. Does anyone have any ideas why the car won't start?       Have I knocked the timing out?

Many thanks.

Hi John...welcome to the Forum!

Did you remove the distributor or just the rotor arm and distributor cap?

Definitely sounds like it is times wrong...may be worth comparing it to your old cap to see that the leads are in the correct order.

Let us know how you get on
