Hi all,

First post so I've got my hard hat on as I'm sure this is a question that's been raised before.

I've started off looking for a B7 S4 saloon ideally with under 100k on the clock although I'll not get hung up on mileage if the service history is good. Originally I was looking for a manual however I'm sort of forcing myself to look at autos as I need this to be grand tourer rather than a rocket (however I want to know its there when I need it). I have a fun / weekend car (Lotus Elise) so this will be the car for the Mrs and I (she's not go in the "bone shaker" as she calls the Elise lol).

There seem to be a few RS6's out there of a similar age for the same money as the S4's I'm looking at and the RS6 is bringing the speed freak out in me and throwing all the logic just explained about into turmoil :)

I've read that the RS4 is a very difference car to the S4 not just the power but a far harder ride. I assume the same applies to the RS6, can / should it be compared to the S4 in any way if I stick to the idea of wanting a Grand Tourer rather than a rocket ship?? Thought I'd ask the experts - thanks in advance

Jason

Hi Jason....welcome to the Forum

It sounds like you need to have a cold shower and take stock of what you really need as opposed to what you would like   I can however, totally understand your quandary...what a decision to make!

I think an RS4 or RS6 would be an awesome purchase but with already owning the Lotus you may end up duplicating the performance and fun-factor element.

Any of the cars you mentioned with either manual or auto trans would make a great Grand Tourer.

Do let us know what you decide in the end...would be curious to know how you arrived at the decision

Cheers  Trevor
