Q3 or Q5 for towing a caravan

Featured Replies

I am trying to decide on the right car out of the above. I can only afford 25K absolute max so cant go for a new one. I tow a caravan about 5 times a year. Other than that it will be used locally and the odd long trip away without towing, so it needs to be an easy drive on distance runs.

2 ltr diesel seems to be a good option, but I cant decide on what body type.

Can anyone offer an informed opinion as to what one would suit. Im earing on the Q3 only because its smaller but its the towing ability Im not sure on.

Thanks a lot

Hi Nigel...welcome to the Forum

I believe the Q3 will do the job nicely, the Q5 may be bigger but do you really need that size vehicle all year round?

The diesel would be the ultimate for torque when pulling a caravan and also may be heavier which will help with the towing weights.

Let us know what you decide.

Cheers   Trevor
