CVT transmission failure at 138k miles?

Featured Replies

Hi,
Has anyone come across an automatic CVT failure (juddering etc) at 138, 000 miles?
My recently bought used Audi A4 2.4 6V Auto from 2003 has started to judder when cold from start, on hill when stopped etc.
No faults on dash, otherwise drives beautifully.
From all I've now read this normally / only / etc  happens around the 70k mileage mark
From what I've read this is a pretty terminal issue in terms of repair cost vs value of  a 2003 model.
Thanks,
Marc

HI Marc....welcome to the Forum

It may be worth spending on a fluid and filter change to see if that improves things, if not...then at least it wouldn't have been too much spent on a duff gearbox.

Let us know how you progress with this issue

Thanks Trevor.

car is going in to Audi /VW specialist next week.

car only cost me just over 1k a month or so back so we'll see. Apart from this, and a little climate control issue, it's lovely.
