Audi A4 Avant 2.0TDI Or 1.9tdi 130

Audi A6  EST  2.0TDI from 2002 is there any  any models that don't have a DPF or known as a  particulate filter fitted I am sure the 1.9tdi don't have them correct me if i am wrong i want to buy Audi to tow a 6 berth  caravan  but i do not want a dpf filter if i can avoid these Crap things

anyone know what to look out for when buying a used Audi like common faults or faults that cost a lot to put right i know the timing belt is expensive .most people sell a car these days as they need some kind of work that needs doing .

is high milage an issue as i see most used are up in the 140000 up to 180000 miles  and 200000 mk

Any help i would surely appreciate it .

Hi Alan

No I don't believe the 1.9 do have a particulate filter, also common faults on what exact car as you state 3 different models in this thread?

Hi Alan...welcome to the Forum

Usually, the DPF is only fitted to cars after late 2007 but in general, if the car is driven properly, on good roads with limited traffic jams and the engine is used properly (as in driven hard) then there is no problem with DPF.  The problem occurs when the engine is not revved sufficiently for long periods for it to regenerate.

So in other words, if you drive around town predominantly then a diesel with a DPF is not an ideal combination.

Cheers  Trevor

just buy one and get the DPF removed like me, get a bonus bit of extra power and economy while you're at it!
