Does anyone suffered dpf on their diesel cars so far? How bad it is and how much it cost to get it sorted?

The worst I had was so much diesel in my engine oil the engine ran away and blew up. Nasty things them dpfs are. 

Anyway. They're expensive to replace (thousands) but I think you can get pattern copies these days much cheaper. 

They don't always need replacing though, you can get a forced regen whenever it starts playing up. 

Mate you actually have problems with yours or sat waiting for it to happen, cos it will?

Appreciate for the comments rbdazza. The only reason i asked about this dpf is for me to be aware what to do when the issue comes up but so far the car is faultless at the moment

They last a lot longer if you aren't doing lots of motorway miles. Short journeys do them no good

Yeah i tottaly agree with you

If you purge it with higher revs in each gear to keep things clean and allow the gases to flow under pressure then its not too much of an issue.

As rbdazza has stated....short journeys do them no good !

 

Thanks very much Trevor! Maybe i just need to change my driving style from now on...

find a driving style that keeps the needle in the middle. you might find that high revs dont do it. low down torque up a decent incline, i.e. 5th gear up hill might get those temps up better.

nailing it round your local streets wont help but stretching the gears on entry to a motorway will
