Hi all,

Newbie comes in peace. I'm currently a 60 plate Focus RS owner and looking for a change. I'm currently considering the Audi S3 Quattro saloon version and the Merc A45 AMG. My choice will be from the second hand market approximately a 14/64 plate.

I'm interested to know anything to look out for on the S3. Most of the info I can find rates them as a great car which is the main reason it has sparked my interest (not considered an Audi before). I've always been a stick shifter but these new Auto boxes are pretty good these days. I remember test driving a Porsche Cayman with the PDK auto box and it was fantastic. Obviously the A45 is Auto too so what's the Audi Auto box like? Am I likely to prefer it over a manual? Are they reliable?

Would people say that servicing an Audi is more expensive than any other car?

Do you know if there is a website or such where I can type in the Reg No. or Vin. No. and get a detailed spec of the car I am interested in. Find out what options have been added etc.

Any help/advice from an owner would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Iain...welcome to the Forum

Great choice of cars to pick from....personally, I would struggle to decide which one to go with.

The S-Tronic DSG is a superb box for performance and the reliability issues have pretty much been sorted over the years.
