I have purchased my first Audi on a 54 plate 2.5 diesel v6 all seems well with the mechanical side of the vehicle  but when I open or close the roof there seems to be a delay in the roof opening or closing is this a common fault with these cars as I am talking in the excess of five minutes for the roof to either open or close ? any advice is greatly appreciated thank you .

That sounds like an extremely long amount of time for the roof to decide whether or not it is going to open!

Not entirely sure but if it has a electro-hydraulic pump, possibly the fluid is low in the pump?

Either way, I think I would take it into a specialist VW Audi repairer for them to look at save destroying any expensive components.
