Loud cold start TT RS

Featured Replies

Hi, bought my TT RS 2 weeks ago and absolutely love the car. The sound it makes is just addictive. The only tiny problem is, I wish that there was some way to quieten down the cold start. When started cold, the exhaust valve opens and stays open for maybe 10 seconds or so. Most of the time this is great as like I say love the noise it makes, but for work occasionally I need to leave home early and I’m afraid my close neighbours may not be quite as enthusiastic about the noise as I am. I assume it would be quite easy for Audi to have added in some user setting that you could set to stop the valve opening on start up between certain times, i.e. 11pm-7am. I did buy the car with the sports exhaust by the way which maybe hasn't helped things lol

Only thing i can suggest is the neighbors move. :yahoo: but seriously i have searched and not much help with the cold start noise being quiet some have suggested trying to start in comfort mode to see if that quiets the noise but end of the day a sports exhaust is going to make a hell of a lot of noise

found this its worth a try

Alternatively. Start the car, let it run for 1sec. Turn off. Start again and it settles straight to normal tick over.
Avoids waking up the neighbourhood
