Issue resolved. User error. Happy to embarrass myself if it helps others....this safety label was still attached to the new battery and wouldn't complete the circuit. Thanks everyone. 🫣
  2. Looks like dealerships are still under instruction to deny all knowledge of any extended warranty unless drivers have their own proof. Nothing has changed in the year since I ground to a halt in live traffic and had to be recovered in my own car as the door couldn't be opened from the inside. There should have been an official recall to help prevent drivers breaking down in dangerous locations. Fortunately the DVSA declared there is no safety issue and nobody is at any risk.

  4. I have taken my car to a local garage to check on suspension related issues: wheel bearings were tested on lifted car, one was changed, but without any results. They have also inspected exhaust pipe for any leaks/holes or connections, tyres were swaped front to rear. I see member Gojko, which also had this problem, but isn't clear what was solution for him in case he solved it. The sound on the OP clips and on my video looks very similar to me, so I'm wondering. Turbo pipe checking looks pretty complicated to do by myself since my car has water cooler intercooler and the air pipes are going behind the engine if I understand it correctly. The symptoms described in the first post looks the same. Speed dependent sound, no matter what gear is on, clutch removes the sound, very slow or minimal acceleration.
  5. What have you tried so far? Assuming you've read this thread have you looked to see if any of the suggestions help?
  6. Glad to read it.
  7. Got car back today, and can confirm it was the thermostat which was faulty. Was replaced under warranty. With new part, live data was spot on. If you have slow warm up, or coolant not reaching 90 on live data, get the thermostat changed with a genuine one, nothing cheap, save the headache. Thank you Magnet, who got me inspecting it again even though it was new. Glad to have motor back running great
  8. Pirelli Scorpions Anthony? Regards, Gareth.
  9. Last week, I experienced a serious issue with my car. It started with a "Electrical System Fault" warning on the dashboard following a failure of the stop-start system. I managed to drive about five miles before other systems began shutting down one by one. The next day, I was able to get to work with the electrical fault still showing. However, on the way home, the car began displaying multiple system failure messages before eventually shutting down completely. I contacted both the RAC and Audi. The RAC engineer charged the battery and connected a spare one, which allowed me to drive the car to the nearest Audi service centre, about four miles away. At the dealership, I was told that a diagnostic check would be performed and I would be contacted with the results. A few hours later, I received a call informing me that the issue was a faulty starter generator. Since my car is seven months out of warranty, I was told I would need to cover the full cost of the repair — £3,411.31. I mentioned the recall listed on the government website and the 7-year extended warranty for the starter generator, but the representative didn’t seem interested. I then asked to speak with the manager, explained the situation again, and informed him that I had a copy of the extended warranty and the relevant TSB. I also requested that the quotation and the reason for denying the warranty be sent to me in writing. Shortly after ending the call, I received another call from the branch manager, who apologized and admitted there had been a mistake. He confirmed that they were aware of the issue and would honour the 7-year extended warranty. The part has been ordered, and I was told I should have my car back within a week. I'm expecting to pick the car up tomorrow. Car Audi A7 50 TDI Quattro 2019, Milage on the car -40.567 miles If not for this forum, I would probably have ended up paying for the full repair and diagnostics — so thank you, audiowners.com.
  10. Hi Steve, Yes, the A3 is great and so economical (72 mpg on a 25 mile journey this morning). The A4 problem is now resolved, at least from my point of view. I agreed with the garage owner to let him have it if he would waive an outstanding bill and on the understanding he will make a good effort to get the car back on the road, which I would be very pleased to see. Scrapping such a great car would be a travesty! We have completed the V5C ownership transfer form this morning, so all done. Hi Magnet, Thanks to everyone for their helpful contributions. Please close the thread now. John
  11. Hi again Steve - just seen your last reply. Wow you guys seem to know everything! What a great service you provide. Thank you again. Christine 😁
  12. Hi (again) Steve. In anticipation of needing to find the unit in the car containing the satnav, I poked about in the glove box where the only 'unit' I could find lives (i.e. CD player). Guess what, there are two small ports, and from one a small 'chip' was hanging out. This is just below the CD player disc insert. I looked at it and guessed this could be my satnav 'data medium'. so I pushed it home into it's port, and (low and behold) my satnav is now working again. Amazing! Unfortunately, I suspect that the cars recent visit to an Audi main dealer was the cause, for some reason (and I am guessing here) they may have 'popped' it out and forgotten to replaced it. Anyway the satnav is working now. I so appreciate your response(s). It gave me confidence to 'have a go'. Thank you. Christine.
  13. THERES 2 FUSEBOXES ONE IN THE ENGINE BAY ONE ON THE END OF THE DASH ON DRIVERS SIDE IM PRITTY SURE THE FUSES FOR THAT ARE ON THE END OF THE DASH FUSE BOX IF ITS NOT A FUSE ITS THE WIREING
  14. As cliffcoggin says. I had exact same problem plus airbag light. Sorted by an auto electrician but could be a diy job.
  15. There is a fair chance the wires are broken or shorting out in the rubber bellows between door and frame. It is a common problem with the driver's door because that gets the most use, but it can happen in other doors.

  17. Hello Marc, As Cliff says. That indeed was my motive for asking what brand the new thermostat was. In quite recent times I regret to say the reliability of new-out-of-box components has become very, very questionable, and not helped by the increasing use of the term OE which might encourage buyer confidence. Again, the use of once trusted brand names - now owned by licensing companies - adds kudos to products no longer manufactured to anything like the quality of the original brand. Dad/granddad then says ‘that’s a quality brand’ and it aids sales. So don’t take for granted that once respected brand name components will be serviceable, simply because they are new. Thermostats are a key component, and are sometimes difficult to access, so for me, it’s the exception to the rule, and I spend a bit more on one bought at the main dealer. Regards, Gareth.

Welcome Dermot, thanks for joining, and sorry to hear of your issue. Please allow me to be direct:- it doesn’t matter if anyone else has had this issue - you have, and it’s unacceptable! To me, the all important thing is that you have everything written down as a record, including phone calls and responses. Not meaning to be personal, but is there any degree of finance involved with this car? If so, you would be wise to notify them in writing of this issue, and state that you will be rejecting the vehicle if not correctly fixed by ‘x’ date. Obviously copy the dealer and Audi Customer Services. Please keep us updated Dermot, and let us know if we can help further. Regards, Gareth.

Don't forget your consumer law. If the item (car, TV etc) goes faulty in the first 6 months of purchase it is assumed the fault was there when you purchased it, therefore you're entitled to a refund. If you've bought it on finance (even partially) then you could ring your finance company, explain the situation and tell them "the vehicle isn't fit for purpose" and as such you want to end the finance agreement. This should get the finance company to get involved and hopefully sort it quicker. As let's be honest, a finance company has a bigger legal team than you or I.
