The electronics on modern cars are very sensitive and can lead to bizarre problems like yours when one system inferferes with another. That's one reason why errors shown on code readers have to be interpreted carefully rather than always taken at face value.
  3. I distinctly remember one dry sunny day in the Hebrides about 25 years ago, though it must be admitted the rest of my time there was wet.
  4. How long have you had the car in days? If under 300 days then you can easily reject the car. I would write an e-mail to the dealer informing them of your rights of rejection. These may help you. https://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/rejecting-a-car/ https://www.themotorombudsman.org/knowledge/what-are-a-consumers-legal-rights-when-buying-a-car/
  5. No recall that I know of. Audi's recommendation for timing belt and water pump renewal used to be about 70000 miles, but has been increased to effectively never, which I and others here believe was a mistake given the known vulnerability of the belt, and the sometimes catastrophic consequences of its failure.
  6. £6-12k depending on mileage etc
  7. Wet clutch or dry, single clutch or double. Why the concern if it has been renewed? The life of clutches, like the life of brakes, depends entirely on how harshly the car has been driven, which of course you will not know. As long as you have the full service history and the car performs well on test it is worthy of consideration.
  8. Thanks John, I did say it was (too?) cheap! Potential thought to consider:- Some garages (understandably?) will not guarantee the job if you supply the parts. Bit like buying a steak from Lidl and asking your local restaurant to cook it for you! I would be clarifying this point if it were mine. If OK with them, you could try reputable eBay sellers for competitive prices. Parts in Motion have given me good prices and service ( no connection - wish there was) over a number of years. Please let us know how you get on John. Regards, Gareth.

If this is of interest to anyone, it is on Reg. Transfers for £900. It is reasonable to expect that the poster would accept less than that since his ‘after- commission’ figure will be much lower. Having said that, the thread will be hidden if we don’t hear from Simon within the next two days.
  10. Agreed, there must have been an advisory at least a year or two before. Shouldn't need spring compressors for the rear, once the rear is at full droop there's little tension on it, just need a jack to raise the link when the new spring is installed.

    Glad to hear it's sorted.
  12. thanks for everyone's help, all sorted now
  13. Me also, the car is full of faults and issues and Audi seem to not be doing much to resolve any of them, giving them a little longer before the car gets rejected for not being fit for the road and as sold.
  14. To update everyone, After months of issues and nothing happening I today was told to report all faults to Audi Customer Relations. They were really helpful but like everyone else their hands are tied but the more people who report faults the more chance of issues being resolved. So please all 0800 699 888 and report the faults, the more they get the more pressure it puts on Audi. Should not be paying the large amounts of money we are all paying to have these issues.
  15. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones. p.s. Please avoid using non specific locations such as U.K., England etc. etc.
