  1. Long time since I started this thread. Thought I would provide an update with coding for anyone searching this thread. I used genuine audi parts for an A3 8y - package number 8Y0.054.634A with wiring harness 8Y0.054.733 which cost £232. It came with instructions for fitting but not coding. I put the wiring through the car following the recommended route although short cut down the boot side trim rather than take the whole side trim out but the rest was along the floor clipped to the existing wiring. No trim broken or clips. One change I made was to use the earth inside the boot lid rather than inside the car body as this also saved removing some of the trim. Gaining access to the J533 module for connections was difficult and took some time to release and wriggle out from behind the steering column. Any garage with e-odis should be able to do this if you have the audi part numbers. My local independent vag garage charged £50.

Car purchased May 2025, numerous faults illuminated on dash Engine management ligh, hill hold assist. Car would only run on battery the other day until it cut out. 10 minutes standing turning off - on engine fired. Alarm goes off at random. Vehicle speeds up when in adaptive cruise when traffic is slowing. Burns excessive oil. Asked uk Audi to respond to Engine management light but they refused. Many owners with similar problems are using consumer act 2015 to return vehicles. I’ve given my formal rejection notice to reject the car.

Many thanks for the update Gavin. Glad that Parts in Motion were able to help you. I’ve spoken with Liam in the past, and I found him very helpful and personable. I must admit, they are my first go-to for parts I need. Regards, Gareth.
  4. Sean. This matter has been extensively discussed over the past year or two. Please search the Audi forums to get the full range of advice and suggestions, which in essence suggest getting the belt changed more frequently.
  5. Which demonstrates once again how a weak or dying battery can cause false warnings.
  6. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂

I completely agree. These vehicles should be categorised in a similar manner to accident-damaged vehicles. Such a classification would help ensure that new models entering the market are genuinely fit for purpose, or that manufacturers bear the financial consequences of shortcomings rather than transferring that risk to consumers. In our case, this purchase was intended as a retirement gift. We deliberately chose to buy new and paid a premium for a so-called premium brand on the assumption that reliability and quality would be assured. Unfortunately, that expectation has not been met. Given that my wife is undergoing cancer treatment, reliability was not a luxury but a necessity. At present, we are relying on alternatives such as Uber, which is far from what we anticipated when making a significant investment of £68,000.
  8. @colinmf - I had the same issue as you. I noticed that I had the car in standby for quite a while with the heating and radio on (Draining the battery and we're in winter months now too) Went to pick the kids up from school, jumped back in the car, turned it on and this is when I first experienced the "Adblue fault no restart after 650miles" - I had only just topped up the Adblue (10 ltrs) about two weeks ago. Luckily I found your post, I trickle charged the battery over night and then in the morning when i started the car, the warning dismissed itself but I was left with the smaller warning. I had an OBD2 Scanner, connected it to the car and cleared all the fault codes I.e. P20BC,P20E8 - ever since, the car has been fine. Thank you so much!
  9. I have just successfully completed the process of sealing the lower edge of the wind deflector mechanism and may reports that leak is fixed as tested by a garden sprinkler showering the car for half and hour. So many thanks to all those who have contributed to this fix. A couple of points: I have removed the pair of spring steel components that sit at the end of the wind deflector curtain so that I could seal the pocket that they sit in. That said the sunroof operates perfectly without them. Not sure what their function is, but perhaps as an anti-rattle for the sliding panel? Anyone? I dropped the headlining on the passenger side mostly so that I did not have to remove the trim and potential damage the airbag on the driver-side A pillar. With Sun visors, grab handles and the central overhead control panel removed I could just about apply gaffer tape to the underside of the perforated mounding that holds the rubber seal of the fabric air deflector, this as recommended here prevented any leakage of sealant to the underside. The sealant I used was a “ modified silane” or MS sealant/ adhesive such as CT1, but many MS sealants exist now and are popular as they have a moisture curing capacity and don’t mind damp condition. I placed the mastic gun tube in warm water for 30 minutes to make it flow reasonably freely as it was 4C outside when doing this. Again thanks to all contributors, demonstrating the power of the group.

So just an update after 6 months gearbox issue reappeared. Countless trips to the dealer and with no help I had enough. Took it to a reputable car garage was diagnosed it as a faulty mechatronics unit. Sent to ecu testing and repaired 3 times but every time fault came back. So finally after threatening the warranty company with legal action the have agreed to change the unit. Have not had my car for over 3 months. Fingers crossed il have it back next week:

  12. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones. p.s. Please avoid using non specific locations such as U.K., England etc. etc.
  13. I had an intermittent Adblue warning on an A4 Allroad recently. Then I noticed a pattern. Initially I got the 650 miles warning which dismissed itself but was left with the smaller warning above the clocks with a spanner and the word Adblue. This disappeared after 2-3 miles. So, an intermittent error message. If you get this do check state of battery charge. Low battery caused the error on mine, hence why it disappeared after 2/3 miles of driving. Put the battery on a trickle charge for a few hours and guess what - no faults shown. I’d hate to think that a dealer would change parts and charge the customer when all that was needed was a fully charged battery… Colin
