  1. The dealer is going to put on a number plate holder next week. Issue is that the front grill is not a smooth surface and there are no dimples to easily screw in a plate. I’ve done a temporary fix for now with Tiger Taoe. Apparently a common problem where the front plate is initially taped on.
  2. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones. p.s. Please avoid using non specific locations such as U.K., England etc. etc.

I'd echo the comments about service parts and ebay - I think there is a reputable supplier in the south west who sells on ebay called Parts-in-Motion. For trim parts Highland Quattro, also on ebay could be useful. I may be going to them for some parts in the future as I believe they also occasionally arrange to have new parts made in moderate volume and although these are for UR Quattro they also sometimes fit the Coupe GT. I have located a number of dismantlers in Germany that will ship internationally but not tried yet: Felgensätze ohne Reifen | Felgen / Reifen | Nach Ersatzteilart | Ersatzteile | autewo GmbH Audi-Ersatzteilhandel This site can be useful for checking original VAG part numbers: AUDI, Audi Coupe Europe, 1988 - Catcar.info As for re trimming, I will need to do some of this on my 1988 Coupe GT. The seats have been retrimmed and are in decent condition but the fabric doesn't match the door cards which does my head in. I'm considering a retrim of seats and door cards in a matching chestnut brown vinyl/leather to match the dashboard and carpets. It will depend how wealthy I feel come the time because I seriously doubt the availability of good used or new original material. Good luck with your 1984 GT. I had one back in the 90s and loved it. I would like to have found a good one this time round but I'm broadly happy with my 1988 model. Post some pictures please when you get a moment, I'd love to see them. Kind regards.
  4. Not had much of chance to investigate further, family issues. But car due for a service soon. May get them to run a diagnostic on it, trust them so I know they won't rip me off. When I find out what is wrong I will post it
  5. I always use Sanoj tape on number plates - the clear stuff linked below rather than the black foam. When you need to remove it, it comes off in one piece rather than having to scrape the sticky foam residue off like you do with regular number plate pads. https://www.sanojtape.com/products/mounting-tape/acrylic-foam-tape/
  6. That's strange. Most of us have the opposite experience and prefer independent over Audi. Nevertheless your problem is solved and you are satisfied.
  7. Great news. I hate to say it but i had a close look at mine at the weekend and the kidney holes mentioned in the TSB are easily accessible. I filled them with lithium grease and squeak cured. Whilst Audi are expensive, they are worth it at times. I even find some parts are comparable and for a few quid more, Id use genuine.
  8. Update: It's been a week almost, there is no noise anymore. I am think i am pretty confident this time. The car has been driven for over 250 miles and there is no noise or any kind of clunk or creak. I am really happy with myself to go to audi dealership instead of independent shops who would just ask me to replace stuff instead of pointing out the actual reason. Btw, my "TRUSTED" mechanic that i went to and he replaced my sway bar end link stating that was the problem, has stopped replying to my texts and my calls and has ghosted me after i asked him to look at my car again. all praise though to the audi service center for saving my life.
  9. Thanks James, that’s great to hear. Could you do us a kindness and keep us updated on progress. This updating will hopefully be helpful to others in your situation in the future. Regards, Gareth.
  10. Hi Steve, sorry for the late reply. Yesterday was crazy busy trying to sort car out but the good news is it's fixed!! I think i saw here in this topic someone saying there's only 3 sensors but in fact it's 4. The 2 on the top close to the lambda sensor and nox,one that comes straight up at the bottom(orange plug) and yesterday saw another one underneath the turbo if I'm not mistaken( black plug). Bought a new sensor(black plug) and tried it on that plug and no error whatsoever and since I had bought one a few months ago and the shape and plug being exactly the same I just used it and no errors,no lights, nothing all day!! Returned the sensor and saved £57!! Thanks for your support and replies, very much appreciated. Raul
  11. Hi Sandeep, Audi The Netherlands helped me once with this problen and wanted me to pay the invoice of around €600. I refused to pay andtold them that this is a structural problem and there is nothing I can do about it. After much whining back and forth they agreed anyway. But I was also very angry and being angry in a showroom full of people wanting to buy a new Audi probably helped because they wanted me to be calm:) I have contacted Audi afterwards and they still don't accept that this is problem is a construction fault. They probably don't want to admit due to the costs it will bring with this type A6. I keep pointing this out to them every time I am at Audi for service. I had the same problem as you that water was getting into the car. What I do now is I always removed the leaves in the fall. I do that around the wipers and under the hood. Also, I open the plastic parts under the hood around the wipers and remove leaves etc here as well. I also use a vacuum cleaner with a long thin hose to get to the parts where my hands can't come and sometimes I also use a a high pressure blower (compressor). If there is still water in there, it has to be sucked out first because that (rain)water will come inside the car once it gets to a certain level. I know, it's ridiculous that you have to do this with a car of this price. This is my 4th Audi A6 and I have more problems with it than this alone. So I think it is the last Audi I bought. I hope this helped. I did not have any problems anymore after I have been removing the leaves (almost every day in the fall).
