  1. Hello James, I think I’ve gained a reputation of being too soft on here, but in your opening question ‘. ….. silly question…’ .-? No a very silly question surely! Surely you realise that you first have to enquire about the field and car ownership -? Sorry, but…. Kind regards, Gareth.

  2. You could always pick up a used engine? Might end up saving you money. https://www.enginesod.com/audi/18-tfsi-audi-a3-sportback-a4-tt-code-byt-160-bhp-2007-14-petrol-type-engine/?gclid=CjwKCAjwoMSWBhAdEiwAVJ2ndrk04qx5OKNkAnh1G0HBngy-5YgFjCh2urS7U7Sna4q3C4wAH2VLHxoCub8QAvD_BwE https://www.enginesod.com/audi/18-tfsi-audi-a3-engine-vw-golf-skoda-superb-2012-18-cjs-180-bhp-engine/?gclid=CjwKCAjwoMSWBhAdEiwAVJ2ndpPeDOuDdGxaqkl811rlNBA-1HkCSs-D5fufyB1n0zoiiy4Wa7632hoCQ4wQAvD_BwE https://www.enginesod.com/audi/complete-18-a3-tfsi-engine-audi-vw-seat-2009-14-cda-petrol-engine/?gclid=CjwKCAjwoMSWBhAdEiwAVJ2ndqxX8AVaeb2GlEiDqRVhvWVvvIIoEqv9gDClDW3QU2reCIaDtL0O-RoCwX8QAvD_BwE

  4. If it was my car and had that type of sentimental value (and could afford the repairs) I'd go ahead with getting the rebuild as like you said "it has been the best car I've had in 30 years of driving." or if you are struggling to get this done in one hit you could always buy a run around until the £££ comes in. Always a difficult decision but ultimately it's down to you 😞 hope my opinion was worth something and please keep us updated. Hope it all works out for you.

  6. As Steve and Stevey have already mentioned, P2002 is caused by a blocked EGR cooler, though it's worth doing a voltage check on the G450 sensors too because that's the pressure feedback. I was strongly advised to not delete the EGR cooler, so to avoid failure of components/engine from overheating 12-18 months later. You could be lucky and get away with replacing an £80 sensor vs. £1k for an EGR valve and cooler replacement, but you're already experiencing it getting hot quickly, so chances are it's blocked.
