    Mine is a 2009 A6, so not the same but I have disconnected my battery and even replaced it without coding anything and all is ok.

    My A6 2.7 has chains not belt. The 2.0l has a belt.

    Is there an option to have them turned off. My 09 has the option and I turned mine off. 09 DRL were not compulsery so I don't know if later models have a choice.
