  1. Welcome Owen, and thanks for joining. I’m sure a couple of owners will be along soon to guide you with your queries. Regards, Gareth.
  2. As said a year ago Colin. If they are original fitment then just look where I advised you to last year. If they weren’t an available and acceptable fitment - good luck with your insurance. Regards, Gareth.
  3. As has been suggested - just replace it with a quality branded one, get it recoded, and just don’t bother to get it retested elsewhere, but worth getting the alternator output checked. Regards, Gareth.
  4. Thanks Paul, Never heard of that brand - let’s hope it turns out good - and lasts. I don’t go for good deals (cheap) on quality-critical batteries, but aim to get respected brands at competitive prices. Regards, Gareth.
  5. I would really like to think that perhaps reactions around rudeness might be as a result of cultural differences, rather than individual personalities. However, if I’m wrong, I will consider closing this thread. Regards, Gareth.
  6. As a matter of interest Paul, what make battery are you buying?

    Any comments Paolo? Regards, Gareth.
  8. Hello Paul, Battery needs to be replaced. Bought from a trader? Regards, Gareth.
  9. Hello Jake, I would agree with your assumption, but an assumption it must remain until inspected. Regards, Gareth.
  10. Hello Dan, The OP has not returned to the forum since a few days after he joined. It would probably be better to send him a PM, in the hope he retains the same e-mail contact. Regards, Gareth.
  11. Following the sale of our A3, I have a pair of new Febi curved rear suspension link arms (not handed) for sale. These fit a range of years, and models, from A1 to Q3 and even TTs. Cheapest prices on EBay for non Febi are around £23 each. £25 + p&p will be accepted for the pair, and I will throw in a set new anti roll bar rubber bushes and saddles - current price £17.50. Curved rear links arms are Febi 32543. Anti roll bar kit is Febi 23606. These will also fit many Skodas, Seat and VW models. Please check EBay for suitability for your car. Please PM me if interested. Regards, Gareth.
  12. Good morning Josh, Let me start by pointing out that you are in grave danger of discouraging others to help and advise you due to the unfortunate attitude you display in your last paragraph. Only you know the absolute facts about the circumstances you find yourself in, and other’s interpretation will be based solely on your ability to clearly convey those facts in a written form. The use of capitals (and particular bold capital) in the context you use them - on this forum and most others are taken as a demonstration of frustration against those who are trying to be constructive, and that is both rude and unacceptable. You emphasise NEW ENGINE (your caps), and Power Engines, but don’t quantify what you mean by ‘new engine’. Could this be totally ‘new’ à la ex VAG, stripped and fully reconditioned and fully bench tested, or simply removed from a scrapped vehicle, given a power wash down, wrapped in clingfilm and sold as ‘new’ I.e. new to you. I think it would be worth you walking back to the first bus stop Josh, and giving yourself a chance to reconsider what you write. Thanks and kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Welcome Steve, 10 litres remaining when the light comes on seems a reasonable reserve to me, and certainly not ‘crazy’ in my book. Consider if you lived in a rural area where filling stations are few and far between. To be honest, I cannot follow your logic in believing it is an overkill, but irrespective of that, the car is simply going to use the same amount of fuel, wherever the low fuel light comes on! Regards, Gareth.
  14. Thanks for the additional valid information.
  15. Hello Peter, Wondering why you aren’t returning this under-warranty vehicle to the dealer, rather than getting paid-for 3rd party involvement -? Regards, Gareth.
