  1. Thanks Jordon, To save us suggesting avenues you’ve already been down , where have you tried so far? Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Thanks Thomas, Would you be kind enough to list your prices for these items, rather than ‘offers’. ‘Offers’ can result in time wasting for buyers, and yourself as the seller. Kind regards, Gareth.
  3. Thanks Paul, As Cliff says - if you can’t inspect it, then at least arrange with the seller to get it inspected at a London independent, and send you photos of the issue/s and a brief report of their recommendation. Other than that, you are effectively buying blind. Have you actually seen the car of late? Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. Have you checked the system for leaks, since the code points to that? Pump overheat is probably as a result of it running constantly to try to ‘satisfy’ the leak. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Would you be kind enough to complete your profile.
  5. Hello Paul, When was the last MOT carried out? I don’t see much mileage in trying to see what anyone on the forum would do Paul, since no one has access to inspecting the severity of the issue. If I were in your situation, I would be asking the owner ( how long have they owned it by the way?) if they would run it down to your local trusted garage - by prior arrangement - and ask the garage if they would allow them to show you the extent of the issue and to advise you accordingly. That small expenditure should stand you in good stead. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Who is that Steve? Predictive text! Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. Hello Ian, Changing from 22 inch to 20 inch wheels is not really straightforward, since the change will affect gearing etc. unless the total dia. of wheel and tyre are a very close match to that of your ( low profile) 22 inch tyres and wheel. The profile increase would be significant - tyre width for width, and you could work it out with some maths ( or I could work it out for you if I knew your current tyre width, but I’m having a lazy day! ). There will be a choice of websites which will assist you information on profile increases when fitting small dia. wheels. Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Hello Stephen, I was in a similar situation with our non-Audi less than a couple of months ago, where not only had the premium hiked, but without bringing it to my attention, their had also increased the compulsory excess - so beware and check! As with yourself, my circumstances hadn’t changed. They (a certain two-letter company) did reduce it a bit via. phone query, but it was still not competitive enough. I eventually took out a policy with Darwin - a subsidiary of Churchill at a more competitive rate, but quite a bit more than I had paid last year. I too had found that comparison site rates had certainly gone up since last year. Having said all that the premium on the Audi had only increased slightly, and indeed very little in the end - following a phone call. Of course, you have Adrian Flux on here who appear to have discounts for forum members. In my experience, ‘Discounts’ are only meaningful where the ‘original’ price is itself competitive, but could be worth a try. Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Hello Merita, I would suggest you search EBay for the specific part, and for ‘TTs breaking’. Also worth advertising your ‘want’ on the on-line breaker link sites that can be found by Googling ‘car breakers’. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Try EBay Colin. You might well find one on there. Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Where have tried so far following a Google search for ‘Classic car insurance’ Daniel? There are many to choose from. There are limitations - as has been mentioned- but this cover usually doesn’t need a ‘spare’ NCB, nor does it generate one. The main advantage is that you can insure the vehicle to an agreed value. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Hello Frankie, I think you will be throwing good money after bad, by just assuming it’s any one of many components that could be at fault, rather than getting the root cause diagnosed. Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Hello Joe, You will find numerous suppliers on EBay selling tailored mats in different quality options. Ask for samples of your chosen quality before committing. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Don’t know Mario. I’ve always used Fabsil on our non-Audi sports. One tip - which I guess you will know - is to start at one side and work towards the middle, then continue from the middle to the other side to avoid a ‘tide mark’ at the stop/start position. Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Hello Joe, I would have thought that it’s highly unlikely that Audi are still supplying these mats - I guess you have tried and failed -? Can we take it you have tried the numerous on-line suppliers of ‘Tailored’’ mats which should be available in various qualities - some of which in my experience are of superior quality to the genuine article? Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Thanks, but I’m yet to meet anyone who doesn’t have a fair idea of what they want for an item they are trying to sell, so for me, if you are advertising your number plate then there are plenty of on-line sources that can point you to a valuation, to allow you to list it in an acceptable way to potential buyers and yourself. Wonder therefore, if you would come back to the forum with at least ‘ offers around £x’ please. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Price Louise please? Kind regards, Gareth.
  18. Many thanks James, Glad it appears to have been sorted. Did you get a good deal on the battery after? Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. I’m really sorry to hear about this Steve, particularly since I know the car has sentimental connections. Bottom end knocking? Possible to remove sump with engine in situ? If so, it should be possible to slide in some new shell bearings which should buy you some more mileage, even if the crank is worn. Fostering relations with a local classic car club, may give you pointers towards contacts. It’s all a bit clutching at straws, but worth a good coat of thinking about. Good luck with whatever you decide to do Steve. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Thanks Kirk, but just noticed the location - Denver- USA? If so, I don’t think we can automatically assume the recall applies in the U.K. Morally should, but…. Kind regards, Gareth.
  21. Hello Claudiu, Insurance? I would have thought that your issue of the plastic rear window breaking up is more ‘wear and tear’ rather than accidental damage, so the likelihood of the insurance covering the replacement cost may be as likely as them covering a bill to replace a rusty wing - for example. I could be wrong, but… I would still be going down the Classic car trimmer route if it were mine. Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Hello Brandon, EBay under A4 breaking is where I would start, and/or register your ‘want’ on the on-line car breaker websites - assuming the engine came with a conventional dipstick. Kind regards, Gareth.
  23. Hello Tony, If you are doing relatively small annual mileages (and I guess you would have a feel for that irrespective of having to look at your filter writing), then I would also suggest to follow an annual servicing regime. Basics would be inspection and oil, air and pollen filters on year one, and inspection, oil and oil filter on alternate years. Apologies for the apparent criticism, but I don’t like your ‘writing on filter’ system ( and presumably not recording that - with receipts elsewhere) since once you change your filters, you don’t have any historical service record of what was done and when - except for the last change. Kind regards, Gareth.
  24. Hello Tony, How many miles have you done in it since you last serviced it about 11 months ago? Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Do you do your own servicing?
  25. Sorry Gavin, I give up now. Kind regards, Gareth.
