  1. OK Peter, So you will need to get it serviced annually, and I find its best to get it serviced a month before the MOT is due, so the vehicle gets a good check over to minimise the risk of any undue surprises with the MOT. You didn’t say when it was last serviced and what was done at that service. This will be important to know what you will need at the next service. When you say -‘independent garage’, will that be a VAG independent specialist, or an ‘ordinary’ garage. Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Welcome to the Audi Owners Club ! Good to have you onboard. Hello Mark, Thanks for posing the interesting question, and sorry to have to ask some questions before responding:- 47k example - ‘ready by beginning of December’. Why, and what is being done to the vehicle that delays its availability? Could be a simple explanation that it’s not coming in in part exchange until then, or more sinister, it’s undergoing mechanical or body repairs. Have you seen the vehicle in the flesh, or if not viewed the service history print out, and enquired about its ownership history, and in particular how long the last owner has owned it for. 15K example:- same as above in terms of viewed/ not viewed-? With an annual mileage of less than 4K, this vehicle should have been serviced on an annual schedule. Beware, it may not have been serviced annually, and just had ( or may not have had even) - one service in its lifetime. Although low mileage is an attraction (and I’m not commenting on the £3.5k premium), it’s worth giving some thought that the vehicle is likely to have been operating over short journeys when it seldom gets up to operating temperature, and may therefore had more of a mechanical hammering that a vehicle doing a much higher mileage over long trips at optimum operating conditions. Are these vehicles being bought ‘remotely’ rather than locally? If so, then in my book, doing your homework is essential, and at least requesting e-mailed copies of service history printouts before travelling to view. Being cynical, it’s surprising how such evidence seems to disappear once you actually view. Kind regards, Gareth.
  3. Welcome to the Audi Owners Club ! Good to have you onboard. Hello Peter, Could you please let us know what your anticipated annual mileage will be, and what service history came with the vehicle, when it was last serviced (when and at what mileage), and what service items were renewed at that service, Also:- will you be carrying out your own servicing, having it serviced at a main dealer, independent, or local garage? Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. Checking if there is any remaining evidence of a bag or crystals, I guess would be a good place to start. Having said that Hamza, you really don’t have to concern yourself about the cause or fixing of the problem. All you now have to do is to check it’s fixed ( properly) once the seller informs you it’s sorted. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Anything to do with the bag of crystals that was/still is added to the expansion tank, and can break up and find its way into the heater matrix? Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Hello Miley, Possibly pessimistic, but free radio codes maybe a thing of the past, and has regrettably moved on to where £13 has become loose change in terms of ‘parts’ for cars. Appreciate we all want to save money, but more often than not, it’s turns out to be far more convenient and time saving just to bite the bullet and pay. Having said that, it could be worth waiting a couple of days or so Incase someone does come up with a free source. Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. Thanks David, Of course, you are right in saying it should have an oil change (at least) once a year, and for some marques the in-brackets ‘at least’ ’ bit becomes very important, since low mileage use gives the engine more of a hammering that a similar engined vehicle covering high mileages when the engine is always running under optimum coolant and particularly, oil temperatures. So upshot is I would (as I do) change the oil and filter annually on our petrol engined car, and if a diesel - which I guess yours is - I would be considering a twice yearly oil change due to possible oil dilution, and I certainly wouldn’t extend that beyond an annual change. Audi recommends an annual service schedule for low annual mileage anyway. Oil is cheaper than accommodating engine wear! Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Welcome to the Audi Owners Club ! Good to have you onboard Hello Hamza, Is the car getting up to normal operating temperature on the gauge or display? If so, you will need to check if both smaller bore rubber hoses from the heater matrix are of matching heat when the car is up to temperature, and the heater set to hot. Are you able to return the car to the seller for them to sort out the issue? Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Great Bob, Any particular reason why you are suspecting the parking module is the offender rather than one of the sensors? If indeed it is the module, then I have a spare one - probably for the same reason as you think yours is defunct! Keep us posted Bob. Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Hello David, Yes, this will be an issue with DIY servicing, and indeed, the ‘Service due’ light may not apply in this case to the need for a full or partial service, but may for example come up at the 2 year anniversary of the date of registration when the brake fluid may need changing. When you say you have only covered 4K miles since the last service - how long ago was this, and what is your average annual mileage? Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Hello Bob, Re. Rear parking sensors, see a similar thread earlier this week - by Dan -? Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Thanks Ben, I think the lack of on-line information is probably due to the VAG locks normally being reliable, so pessimistically you might struggle wherever you go - except with specialists - but let’s keep fingers crossed that someone on here might have had similar issues. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.

Thanks Andy, So do you have the compressor and gue? Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Welcome to the Audi Owners Club ! Good to have you onboard. Hello Ben, Thanks for being in touch. I’m sure you don’t mind us pointing out that this vehicle would not pass an MOT in this condition - so could be termed illegal to use. Did you buy it from a dealer? If so you should advise them of the issue and request that they arrange to rectify the problem. If you bought it from a private seller, then it must still comply with the advertised condition. In my experience VAG locks are more reliable than many other marques, so it would be difficult to diagnose without access to the vehicle. It sounds as if you will need to get this to a trusted independent as soon as possible - dependent on where/ who you bought it from financing the repair. Perhaps you could come back to us Ben. Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Welcome to the Audi Owners Club ! Good to have you onboard. Many thanks David, yes that is what was already known. The debate is whether this ‘no age’ limit makes good and safe mechanical sense. As you can see, there are owners who are prepared to accept that at face value, and those who question the logic of this deviation. I think there is enough opinion within this thread to allow owners to make a decision which they feel suits them, and at the same time gives them an all important peace of mind. Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Thanks James, Does the jack and wheel brace come with that - to save individual forum members asking you? Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Your garage will need to code the new battery to the car David.
  18. It’s not the required AGM type David. Any reason why you aren’t now confirming with Tayna that the AGM one you pictured earlier is correct for your car - or not?
  19. Thanks James, What is your asking price please? Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Does anyone know what QR stands for - without cheating and looking it up!?
  21. Thanks Tim, Where have you searched so far? Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Thanks Mark, but unfortunately the OP hasn’t returned to the forum since the day after he joined - about a month ago.
  23. No problem David, everyone gets things wrong from time to time. I put my mistakes down to old age! Back to your Tayna battery:- Seems Exide only do one grade of AGM, so that’s simpler. Try going into EBay, and searching for the same battery from Tayna. You will find its ‘post free’ on EBay, so it could work out cheaper for you, and you have the benefit of ‘Contact seller’ and giving them your reg. no. again to double check it will be correct. When you have gone through that you may be able to use a discount code such as SAVES8 which will give you an extra 8% off. Send me a PM if in difficulty - I’ll be out all the morning, but will come back to you today. Good luck and kind regards, Gareth.
  24. Thanks Sarah, I cannot claim that your battery is below par, but testing it (properly!!) is the only way of eliminating it or incriminating it. That is why I suggested you entrust this to your local Halfords stores who are/ should be equipped with a tester capable of carrying out measured tests - usually for nothing. All modern Audis are very susceptible to sub standard batteries, and the technology certainly outstrips green lights. We try to give logical advice which results in cheap elimination, before owners embark on more expensive investigations. Sometimes it works, but we do respect that it’s the owner’s choice whether they accept that advice, or carryout further investigations by any route that might suit them better. Good luck with getting it sorted. Kind regards, Gareth.
  25. Thanks David, you can of course order their Enduroline, but I certainly wouldn’t - as I said. Why have you decided against an Exide Premium as a matter of interest? Kind regards, Gareth.
