You can try the aftermarket Android head unit, they provide the functions of radio, GPS nav, bluetooth, vedio player so far.

Maybe there's another way for the safe driving. Just like set the flight mode, we could provide the driving mode in the Android head unit? If so, there's no reason to reduce the original functions of the unit.

Not long ago I have seen some threads talking about porting android auto to an android head unit. The android head unit, mostly integrate car radio, stereo, GPS navigation, camera and others.So in my view, it's good enough for many scenario and requirements. One of the reasons for installing the android auto, that the android HU manufacturers don't want to provide full mirroring of smartphones, or an internal Android OS. And the Android Auto won't do that, you can even use Pandora or Spotify on it. In fact, the reason for the HU manu do not provide all the original functions is that it's easily to be sued by distracted driving deaths and maimings.

I think those kind of problems were solved today when using the android car headunit.There are many solutions than you can always find the right one, such as the interface for adapt bluetooth or something.

Is it caused by the head unit? Is it an original head unit or aftermarket head unit? I got the the seicane aftermarket head unit and it works well for hands free call.

I never hear that a gps need to activate before, maybe I am wrong, but usually if the car get a gps, it can be used directly, is the gps module removed when you buy the car?
