Audi A6 3.0 tdi
A My A6 c7 has came up on the dash to add 1 litre of oil. I added 1 litre and then came up again 1 week later, done the same again. Eventually I got the mechanic to check it out. Couldn't see anything wrong , no oil leaking , replaced the engine oil sensor, 5 litres taken out and 7 added. Three weeks later same thing happened again. Dip stick added and the levels are okay. Anyone else experience this or similar? Thanks

2008 audi a5 coupe 3.0 tdi ac compressor won't engage
Hi guys, I have a 2008 audi a5 coupe 3.0 tdi on about 138k miles, the ac was blowing ice cold on 1 side and slightly warmer on the other, it was like this for a couple weeks but then eventually stopped blowing cold at all so I thought it was just a case of getting it regassed, I took it to 2 different places to get it regassed but both said that no matter what they couldn't get the compressor to engage/kick in.. they said it could be a sensor, a switch or the compressor itself.. so I've now taken it to a 3rd place for a diagnosis and they said they think it's the compressor but to test the compressor they have to basically get to a point where they start taking it off to get to the plug so I might aswell just replace it while they're at it since they think that's the problem anyway.. what do u guys think? I've scanned the car using obdeleven and got the car scanned by them and it's got no codes at all

You may well receive contra opinions, and that’s good, but I wouldn’t be mapping any 16 year old car without service history. You are not just talking all important oil and filter changes, but suspension wear and tear, and of course tyre brands and condition, before you even consider the affect on your insurance premium.

Audi q7 3.0 tdi new member HELP NEEDED?
Evening all im a new member to the audi forum but had many audis over the years and always been reliable I had a q7 November 2024 that had just had extensive work done including, oil cooler, alternator, pulleys & belts, new battery with a receipt for just over 3k ive had the car just over a year and done around 3.5k in it had a full service and rear wheel speed sensor (genuine) fitted in decemeber 2024 and been fine until I noticed a chugging sound on startup the other day and when I picked the little one from school noticed a oil burn smell in the cab, parked the car on the drive and havent used it since thursday, so I had time to check today and noticed it looks like its leaking from by the exhaust manifold, looks like there a build up of gunk near I think is the injector and looks like its blowing you can see in the video after camera stops shaking? Correct me if im wrong but im led to believe its the injector leaking and the copper washer failure is that right and can anyone help me out or point me in the direction, I have warranty on the car until may 2026 and if this is going to be an expensive repair I may have to claim towards it to cover some expenses, I will drop a video below i have taken today. Any help is appreciated 👊🏻👌🏻 Thanks audi owners club! Regards Peter 20260117_161435.mp4

Audi q7 3.0 tdi new member HELP NEEDED?
Sorry Pete just seen your email. Darkside charged me £555.59 inc vat to replace the injector seals. Seal kit + bolts/brackets was £108 + vat the rest was labour which took them around 5-6 hours. I had them service the car at the same time so my total spend was £852. (Apparently they were a sod to get out so glad I didn’t have time to do it myself).

Help in choosing between 2.0 tdi and 3.0 tdi
Hi all Hoping to get some advice please, looking for a 2013/14 q5. Really confused between a 2.0tdi vs 3.0tdi. Has to be automatic. Reliability and economy in the real world between the 2? How are the gearboxes and issues with dpf or clutch packs. It is for the wife so mainly local and occasionally me on longer trips, any advice welcome

Help in choosing between 2.0 tdi and 3.0 tdi
Thank you all. I should have mentioned i will specifically be looking for euro 5 and not euro 6 for the very reason of clogging up and over engineered dpf egr setup. I know on the euro 5 its a simpler dpf and egr.

As with any diesel used mainly for short journeys you can expect DPF problems at some point.

Help in choosing between 2.0 tdi and 3.0 tdi
Can’t find specific details, but this brochure from 2016 shows the model line up. PDF brochure By 2016, the Q5 2.0 TDI was available in (150PS) and (190PS) engines or 3.0TDI 258PS. All were 7-speed S Tronic transmissions. They need serviced every 38k miles, which is fluids and filters. Seems the 8-speed Tiptronic box was only available on the TFSI models or BiTDI on SQ5. 2014 models may have been different, and the top of the range 2.0 TDI was probably 177PS or there about. 2.0 TDI would be belt driven, so new toothed drive belt and water pump every 5 years or 60k miles. On 3.0 TDI, suspect it’s chain driven and good for life of car, however they can get chain rattle or stretch if not maintained properly. Pretty sure by 2013/14 Ad Blue was fitted to make them Euro 6 compliant. So you’ll have EGR, DPF, cats, etc. Car needs to have been serviced regularly. If it’s been on a daft 18k long service intervals, or missing history, walk away. Real life mpg, basically these are heavy 4x4 SUVs who don’t expect anything mind blowing, probably 40-50mpg in summer, worse around town, and during winter. The difference between 2.0TDI and 3.0TDI is power delivery and low end torque. If you plan to tow, then 3.0TDI would be a good shout. With all diesels, then they don’t like short run trips or you run the risk of clogged DPF and EGRs. As long as they are doing long trips too to help DPF regenerate, that will keep things ticking over. Use a can of Forte fuel conditioner on nearly empty and change the fuel filter afterwards (every 20k miles), plus Forte anti-crystal on every AdBlue top up. I’d also say use premium diesel. Do your research before parting cash. Also consider VCDS to scan any prospective car. This holds all fault codes unless they have been cleared. Very useful tool down the line if you DIY service, fuel pump, rear electro mechanical brake reset, etc.

"The Digestive" Weekly roundup 24th May - 31st May 2026
"The Digestive" Weekly roundup 24th May - 31st May 2026 As we close out May, this week’s forum activity has been buzzing with discussions spanning from technical woes to exciting projects. Let’s take a closer look at what’s been happening across our Audi models! The Audi A4 (B9) Forum saw a particularly lively topic regarding a 'brake servo restricted' warning that a few members, including Stevie84 and A-D, have been grappling with. The general consensus is that this may be linked to sensor faults, which is concerning for a relatively new car. Peter1028 shared a frustrating experience with diagnosis and repair costs, suggesting that the issue might actually be software-related. As many have faced extended wait times at dealerships for diagnostics, it reflects a pressing need for better warranty coverage on such faults. Moving on to the A6 (C5) Forum, Steve Q is deep into an ambitious project involving engine removal and inspection. Supported by forum members like Stevey Y, who offered tips on suspension upgrades, it’s a great example of camaraderie in our club. They’re tackling challenges like seized calipers, but with encouragement, Steve is steadily enhancing his mechanical skills. In the A6 (C8) segment, JRUK has been on a quest for a genuine 20” spare wheel and tool kit. After some troubleshooting, it seems The Wheel Shop might be the answer, although fitting adjustments are still a concern. Cliffcoggin and others provided valuable feedback, proving that our members are always ready to lend a hand. Meanwhile, Adam raised an important question in the A3 (8P) Forum concerning intermittent clutch pressure loss. Responses from Cliff and Gareth underscored the risks of air in the system or faulty seals. Adam is now leaning towards managing the issue rather than opting for costly repairs, reflecting the financial realities many of us face. Over in the A6 (C7) Forum, Jezza20 discussed the persistent EML light and P2000200 fault code. Stevey Y brought his wealth of knowledge to the table, with repair costs potentially reaching £4,000—a sobering reminder of the importance of thorough diagnostics. The advice to replace the EGR cooler remains a significant investment, but one that may prove essential. For those considering an Audi A6 C6, X3VSO initiated a helpful conversation on pre-purchase checks. Members highlighted the necessity of a full MOT, service history verification, and the utilisation of diagnostic tools like VCDS. These discussions not only prevent potential pitfalls but also foster a spirit of responsible ownership. Our A3 (8Y) Forum has also been buzzing, with Joe6 successfully navigating a rear wiper replacement on his 2023 model, thanks to a detailed guide from AlanH. This kind of knowledge-sharing exemplifies the spirit of our club. Lastly, it's been great to see recent discussions about features in newer models, like the oil temperature reading on Francis007's S5 Avant HUD, raising questions about uncommunicated software updates from dealers. Want to join the conversation? We warmly invite all members to visit the forum, share your tips, ask questions, and upload photos of your vehicles. There’s always more to learn and share within our fantastic community. Until next week—safe driving and enjoy your Audis! Best, The Audi Owners Club Team Audi A3 (8P) Forum Digest Clutch pressure loss then comes back? 13 replies Adam raised concerns about intermittent clutch pressure loss in his Audi A3, following repairs to the master cylinder and pipe. Cliff and Gareth offered insights, with Cliff suggesting the possibility of air in the system or faulty seals, while Gareth highly recommended using quality parts like LUK for repairs. Despite multiple bleed attempts, Adam noted that the problem persists occasionally, and he is currently opting to manage it rather than undertake costly repairs, acknowledging that he’s already had substantial mileage since purchasing the car. 3.2 overheating issue 7 replies Rybrook raised a concern regarding persistent overheating issues in his Audi, specifically with the DSG system displaying the dreaded "block of death" in hot weather. After draining the coolant and flushing the DSG oil cooler, he identified the problem as a faulty plastic water pump impellor, which he replaced with a more durable metal one. Cliffcoggin expressed interest in the replacement source, to which Rybrook promptly provided a link for next-day delivery from Parts In Motion. The community rallied to share insights, demonstrating the collaborative spirit of the forum. Audi A3 (8Y) Forum Digest Rear wiper replacement 7 replies Joe6 initiated a conversation regarding the removal and replacement of the rear wiper on his 2023 A3 8Y, expressing concerns about damaging the plastic arm. AlanH provided a detailed step-by-step guide for the replacement, emphasising the importance of caution and protecting the glass. After experimenting with various methods, Joe6 successfully figured out the process, acknowledging the initial difficulty but ultimately finding it easier than expected. Steve Q joined in to congratulate him on resolving the issue. Audi A4 (B7) Forum Digest Ai the mechanic? 6 replies Bedders raised concerns about his 20-year-old Audi A4 2.0 TDI, citing a lack of power and juddering issues. Cliffcoggin advised seeking out an independent VAG specialist for a thorough diagnosis using proper code readers, while spartacus68 emphasised the importance of budgeting for essential repairs without overwhelming costs. Following this guidance, Bedders has scheduled an appointment at a local garage with VCDS capabilities next Thursday. Audi A4 (B9) Forum Digest Brake servo restricted 714 replies · 15 files Stevie84 initiated a discussion regarding a recurring "brake servo restricted" warning on their Audi A4, raising concerns over potential sensor faults in such a new vehicle. A-D echoed this sentiment, noting that multiple owners are experiencing a similar issue—many after infrequent use during lockdown—and highlighting the lengthy wait times for diagnostics at dealerships. Peter1028 shared a distressing experience with an exorbitant quote for repairs, suggesting that the problem could stem from a software issue rather than hardware failure. The consensus indicates a frustration with Audi's response and potential oversight regarding warranty coverage for this fault. Audi A4 B9 - 2019 35 TFSI Petrol 5 replies Navs747 raised concerns about a coolant leak in their 2019 Audi A4, noting a drop in coolant levels and a pinkish liquid around the engine area. Cliffcoggin advised checking the reservoir cap and examining the engine while hot for signs of leakage. Fortunately, Navs747 later identified a hairline crack in a connector as the source of the issue. This diagnosis highlights the importance of thorough checks and proper observation during troubleshooting. Audi A5 Club Digest Roof opening from key 5 replies BookerSussex raised a query about the roof opening feature on their 2013 A5 convertible, noting that it doesn’t respond to the key. Stavros offered a helpful tip, suggesting a technique involving a double press of the unlock button: a quick press followed by a sustained press to operate the roof. Although some debate ensued regarding Stavros's recent activity on the forum, it ultimately highlights a useful method for fellow Audi owners facing a similar issue. Oil temperature showing up in HUD 5 replies Francis007 initiated a discussion regarding the unexpected appearance of oil temperature on the Heads Up Display (HUD) of his new 2026 S5 Avant. ScottyB10 contributed by suggesting the possibility of a recent over-the-air update causing the change and noted the absence of warnings in the system. After contacting his Audi dealer, Francis007 learned that a software update may have enabled this feature without notifying UK dealerships, possibly related to the rollout of the new RS5 models. Members are encouraged to check if this feature appears in their vehicles. Audi A6 (C5) Forum Digest I've bit the bullet 65 replies · 4 files Steve Q has embarked on an extensive project to remove and inspect the engine of his Audi A6, with help from a friend studying mechanics. As the pair work through various component replacements, they face challenges such as seized calipers and rusty springs. Members like Stevey Y provided valuable advice on selecting suspension upgrades and dealing with potential corrosion issues, leading to a meaningful consensus on the Bilstein B6 shocks being a preferred option for the desired ride quality. Overall, the participants supported Steve's hands-on approach, encouraging improvement of his mechanical skills for a successful restoration. Audi A6 (C6) Forum Digest What to check before I buy? (C6) 9 replies X3VSO kicked off a discussion regarding what to check before purchasing an Audi A6 C6, particularly a 2010 SE model. Members like Magnet and spartacus 68 offered valuable advice, highlighting the importance of a full MOT, verifying service history, and using diagnostic tools like VCDS. They also mentioned potential concerns such as common engine issues and the need for regular transmission servicing. Ultimately, they advised thorough checks and emphasised caution when dealing with sellers to avoid potential pitfalls. Audi A6 (C7) Forum Digest P2000200 10 replies Jezza20 started a discussion regarding a persistent EML light and a P2000200 code on his 2014 Avant Ultra, highlighting issues with the DPF and EGR cooler. Stevey Y shared his extensive knowledge, detailing the costly repairs needed, which could range from £1,600 to over £4,000, and advised caution when considering in-situ cleaning methods. The consensus among members indicates that replacing the EGR cooler is often necessary, yet it’s a significant financial commitment with no guaranteed resolution to the issues. Mismatched tyres 7 replies RichD raised a concern about mismatched tyre sizes on his 2018 A6 Avant Quattro, noting the fronts were 225/45R18 while the rears were 245/45ZR18. Cliffcoggin pointed out that, while the widths differ, the diameters remain safe, although mismatching may affect handling on Quattros. Spartacus68 suggested verifying the handbook for the correct specifications, and Magnet advised double-checking what was originally fitted to the car. A consensus emerged that RichD should confirm the original tyre size before making any changes. Audi A6 (C8) Forum Digest Sourcing a genuine 20" spare wheel/tool kit for A6 C8 S line 19 replies JRUK is on a quest for a genuine spare wheel setup for his Audi A6 C8 S line but faces challenges, particularly with Audi not supplying a space saver. Dalswinton suggested The Wheel Shop for a high-quality alternative, which JRUK later confirmed they could provide, though it posed a fitting issue in the boot. Cliffcoggin offered insights on potential fitting adjustments, but the concerns about stability remained unresolved. New member Binnedit also joined, inquiring about compatibility with different wheel sizes.

Is it possible to tell if a car is mapped?
Guest posted a topic in Audi TechnicalWithout having dealer level equipment, is there way to know whether my car has been mapped? I have OBD 11 but that doesn’t offer me any information. Is there a serial number or a version number or something that I can look for that will allow me to know for sure if it’s been mapped? I’m not sure if it’s relevant, but it’s a 2018 SQ7 -
Is it possible to tell if a car is mapped?
Well as most people would never know if a car they bought had been mapped or not then surely you have plausible deniability or similar? As I suspect if a car has been mapped prior to your ownership and it were to be crashed then I bet insurance could find out when it was mapped by a date stamp of the ECU override if that makes sense?
