  2. The charging is supposed to be controlled by Octopus under their intelligent go tariff that gives good rate between 11.30 pm and 05.30am. I have turned off the charge timers in the car and am using the 3 pin granny charger that has no timer function. When I plug in and switch on the charger starts charging as indicated by the pulsing light on both charger and car. After a short time Octopus recognises that I want to charge, presumably a signal from the car, and they tell the car to stop the charge and send me their proposed schedule, on their app of charging through the cheap rate period. I have been doing this for the two years or so that I have owned the car. The problems started about 3 months ago after I started getting messages that the 12v battery was low. After replacing the battery, including telling the car that it had been changed, the first charge worked fine, but since then nothing but trouble. I have noticed that after a failed attempt to charge one of the car timers that I have turned off is showing that it as set up for a charge some days in the future and has mysteriously turned itself on, definitely not by me! The only settings I have made are in the Octopus app - Level of charge required and by what time
  3. Alan. Do you intend to publicly respond to the replies you have received on both these topics? I know you have seen them.

  5. Hi Cliff, yes it did have a front knock and new light and bumper i believe. Can the headlight be adjusted?
  6. Hi ok I appreciate this where would I get the kit from? Also where is it located on the transmission? Thanks Gary
  7. Just stumbled across this page. I've had a brake servo error appear on the dash, no lights though. Having read through plenty of comments, a lot of you have suggested getting a replacement from Amazon, I just wondered what people's experience was and how reliable were they? For context my local garage have quoted me £88 for a replacement but can't get it until Monday at the earliest!
  8. Well it has taken Audi 20 months, but out of the blue they have finally delivered the towbar for my S5 Avant - which I wanted and enquired about at day one! Cambridge Audi have the car and are fitting it today and tomorrow. Having had great success using my old S4 Avant for towing on occasions when I needed to move one of my old cars on a trailer, I partly chose the S5 for its high towing capacity - but for the last year and 8 months I have had to rent a truck instead because Audi could not supply (though they have been fitting them on the production line all this time). The cost is a little under £2,000 fitted, which is pretty steep, but you can't fit an aftermarket one (e.g. from Witter) because apparently it will not be compatible with the software! I had a detachable Witter one on my S4 and naively thought I didn't need to wait 4 or 5 months for a special order S5 with Audi towbar from the factory. Supposedly the software does clever things, like not jamming on the brakes when you try to reverse with this vehicle (i.e. trailer) detected by the radar as an object you are about to hit! We'll see, though I don't know when I will next have to use it as I have sold the car I most often had to transport. Still waiting for the next (4th) software update to solve outstanding gremlins. And need to replace all the tyres - worn out after just 11,000 miles. I used to get 25,000 to 30,000 miles from the S4's tyres. Good to hear you are all enjoying yours. I do too, mostly, but in more sober moments realise I would have been better to buy the Volvo alternative.
  9. So what ‘debris’ are you looking to remove from what part of the exhaust Neil? A photo would be helpful. Regards, Gareth.
  10. Whatever else you do or get concerned about, please make sure you insure this car on an agreed value basis, otherwise you certainly will lose money.

  13. i have been away in asia for work. The car is now ready for a new owner as im looking at a car this week. Nothing has changed apart from new spark plugs and a battery

Oh dear Russell, Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you have just demonstrated that lowering an already low vehicle is impractical. Anyone car only guess at the reason for the now non start issue without inspecting the car, but you can possibly hang on to the hope it is something relatively simple such as a dislodged sensor etc. A photo of the extent of the damage to the sump might aid other ideas. Please keep us up to speed on developments, and meanwhile wish you all the good luck we hope you won’t need. Regards, Gareth.

  16. Hello again Luke, It is evident you have returned to the forum a couple of times ( last about 20 hrs ago), but seem intent on not updating the forum on your current situation. Could you please have a read of ‘New members please read’ which you would have had access to when you joined, and then come back with the latest update. Thanks, Gareth.
  17. My Audi A6 C7 has no power to the MMI screen. What I’ve checked so far is as follows: 1. 1. fuse. Ok 2. Done the reset. 3. Opened the dash board checked the blue/red and brown power connector, no power. 3. Peeled back the soft cable cover to the screen to check wires for damage. The red/blue had slight damage. Cut and soldered, still no power. Now I’m really in a pickle. The radio, media, Bluetooth all work fine. It is just not getting power to light up the screen. Any ideas?
  18. Thank you very much for your replies - this is all very helpful. The service history is as follows: Date of Service Type of Service Vehicle Mileage 05/12/2025 Inspection Service 67,379 01/08/2024 Oil Change Service 61,162 04/08/2023 Used Car MPC 56,479 04/08/2023 Oil Change Service 56,479 04/08/2023 Brake Fluid Change 56,479 11/02/2022 MOT (passed) 43,772 23/08/2021 Interval Service 38,706 04/09/2020 Interval Service 29,582 13/11/2018 Oil Change Service 9,753 I bought the car in August 2023 and its had one oil change since I've had it with one inspection service. These cars don't even have a dipstick so you cant check the oil is clear when it comes out of an oil change service I bought it from a main dealer in good faith and I suppose you assume with a full Audi service history that they would have changed the oil more regularly. Seems I was dead wrong to assume
  19. Thank-you. Sofar I have not been successful. I am in the north of Scotland and the one local audio specialist can't help.
  20. Hi if its a new module it will need coding to the car but if the brake is working it can't be that, what're you trying to clear the code with?. Steve.
  21. Already gone but I don't know how to delete the posting
  22. Hi it depends how near to the DAB aerial you have fitted any cable for the camera if you have run the rear anywhere through the head liner the whole cab needs suppressor units every foot, it also depends if you have hard wired the unit, which brand of camera do you have they all have their own little quirks. Steve.
  23. I don't know specifically about your car, but the behaviour you describe is typical of modern automatic gearboxes. If the changes up and down are imperceptible, and can only be noticed on the dashboard display, I would not worry about it.
  24. Cheers for the advice Clifford. Appreciate it, will give it a try and report back 👍
  25. I’ll keep you all posted once I’ve found someone who can do an electrical test. Appreciate all the responses, thank you 😀
  26. Ahhh this make more sense, a company claiming it is something when in actual fact it isn’t, sound about right, and even managed to get everyone on board calling it a CVT when it isn’t. Anyway, back on topic lol I have read the car with an OBD2 reader and have no faults, I’m to the understanding that it needs to be read on VCDS for more in-depth look to any gearbox faults
  27. Just reset the fault. It’ll be fine. Did you stop when the pump clicked? Don’t overfill the tank.
  28. This topic is going nowhere so I am closing it.
  29. On Android here, and all working as expected.
