  2. Hello there! Just to keep you informed about my, in fact, "mechanical restoration" of my 2.5 BDH. Two weeks ago I left my car to my mechanic's shop to do some things, like: Timing kit with water pump Front control arm kit Automatic transmission service kit Draining of all fluids and refilling with new ones Injector sealing rings In the end, the situation turned out like this: Having then replaced: Timing system Water pump Thermostat All pulleys and vibration dampers Crankshaft pulley Coolant reservoir Automatic transmission oil pan, filter, and oil Valve cover gaskets and sealing rings Alternator (only because the old one was FULL of engine oil) Glow plugs Complete front control arm kit including tie rod ends Air conditioning gas recharge Now I hope to be able to drive it again next week, as they will finally return it to me! In the meantime, some new parts came to my home, ready to be changed! Cheers! Federico
  3. Thanks Stephen, I think I would have also changed the hub ( which normally houses the sender) at the same time - for the cost of the hub- with- bearing. Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. Sorry to say but no. My rear lights are intermittently showing the usual rear light malfunction fault. The only way for me to temporarily "fix" the problem is to slam the boot really hard, and not reopen it. When we start to get some significant rain I suspect that the corrosion will be such that this won't work, and for the 6th or 7th time (I'm losing count!!) the rear lights will have to be replaced. Audi don't want to know particularly as my A1 is 2012 reg. My previous car was a Morris Minor which I had for 40 years. The rear lights never failed on that!!

  6. i bought an audi a 4 b8 with bills and with one bill it said clutch high.it showed no signs of slipping then 3.5 years later it suddenly started to go then went completely while on a busy by pass.all changed including fly wheel £1500 garage in north yorkshire
  7. Well I'm sorted with the fueling injectors singing nicely but no spark 🙄 so back to fault finding, I hate electrics 🤣
  8. This is sorted now I pulled relay 208 pulled the injectors bridged the relay and lifted the flap on the metering head. Eventually got a good delivery of fuel from each injector. But no spark back to it.
  9. Thanks for replies , going back to garage today , think it's just the way the drive shaft was reassembled after changing the cv joint . It's only happening on initial movement back and forward . No sound actually going into gear .
  10. Thx for your quick response I will have a look
  11. Hi, I have a 2009 Audi A4 1.8t SE which had it's MOT recently. It passed but the garage noted that there was a slight oil leak. When asked where they thought it was coming from they thought it was the head gasket but said I needed an Audi specialist to check it out. This I duly did and was told it was not the head gasket - it was coming from the vacuum pump. I had this part replaced but the car is still leaking oil. I took it back to have it rechecked and was told it was the crankcase gasket. I asked them for a quote but they seem reluctant to give me a price as they said my particular car was originally fitted with the wrong pistons and conrods and that they may need to be replaced too and all at a horrendous cost. This is all gobbledygook to me as I am completely lacking in any specialist car knowledge. I am also a pensioner with a small pension and if we are talking big bucks I will not be able to afford it. I also live on my own in a cottage 2 miles out of Kelso in the Scottish Borders so a car is an absolute necessity and I can't afford to buy a replacement car. The car has done 98,000 miles and drives perfectly well but I am aware there may be catastrophe ahead if I don't get this oil leak sorted. And it is an oil leak - the car is not burning oil. Can anyone offer me any advice - are there any members who have experienced the same problem with their A4? I would be very grateful for any help and thank you in advance for your time. Regards, Colin Dimes.

  13. Tim. If you look through the forum history you will see that changing from tungsten to LED is far from straightforward, and sometimes impossible. If your lights are dim it would be simpler to just renew the bolbs. Incandescant lights do become dim over time.
  14. Is there a link for the stickers please
  15. I’m about to start looking for an SQ5 between 2017 and 2019 and I’m undecided to which engine to go for was hoping to get some feedback on reliability between the TFSI and the TDI many thanks, Alan Reed
  16. I bought another replace screen that definitely works but it still had the same probably and I’m not sure what else to do?
  17. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂
  18. Please contact Trevor the Audi owners club administrator. His user name is Audi owners club. As the club is managed by a limited company I suspect you'd be in breach of copyright. Trevor can send them out to you

  20. Did anyone get to the bottom of this problem as we are now experiencing the same thing?
  21. Take it back. Transmission issues rarely resolve themselves. Assuming this is 7-speed S tronic. It needs serviced every 38k miles. If gearbox was serviced, I’d want written notification of that. It could be a firmware issue of course, so would need need a scan to check what’s what, but first thing the dealer is likely to do is drop the oil, new filter, etc. If there any contamination in the gearbox, then that’s on them.
  22. Try speaking to these people about what you want to do and what you'll need Car Stereo Car Audio | Dynamic Sounds | Car Stereo System ... They seem to be very good and not too expensive.
  23. I will wait for the Vid..
  24. Last bit :- vital that you do in my book Andy, before committing. Please do not be mislead into thinking low mileage is any assurance from potential issues, since if you consider such low mileage is usually as a result of short journey use, with numerous gear changes etc. along with stops and starts, and braking. Always worth reviewing the broader picture of pros and cons of low mileage compared with the same car covering high motorway miles at optimum operating conditions. Regards, Gareth.
  25. I have to agree with Cliff I suspect it's the amplifier. I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up
