  2. If I understand correctly you have paid a $3000 non refundable deposit so you are committed to buying the car. Is that correct? I suggest you assess whether the total purchase cost plus the cost of necessary repairs is worthwhile, or whether you should abandon the deal and lose $3000. Only you can make that decision in the light of local car values.
  3. So you have a pair of worn out tyres at the back and two unmatched new tyres at the front? It's not worth considering any thing else until you get the tyres sorted out.
  4. It's usually a faulty temperature sensor/control module. Diagnosis with a decent OBD reader should reveal the fault.

  7. Does anybody know if it is possible to increase the volume of the bleep on the sign based speed reminder. Thank you for your help
  8. Hi I’ve got the exact Same fault on my A4, did you find a fix?
  9. You're welcome, doesn't sound like the battery is at fault. Could it be an issue with the instrument cluster?
  10. This article might help: Either way check near the manifold, cat, or other places along the exhaust or even dpf.
  11. You're welcome. If it is the ballast then this can be changed but might need to be coded in.
  12. You don’t need a tester to inspect the condition of the cables within the flexible harness section Kieran.
  13. Mine has been fine for some weeks now, I did have issues caused by my dashcam. That may not be relevant to an A3 though as it depends where the radio aerial is located, on a Q3 it is in the rear window glass. On a Q3 the Update Station List option is at the top of the main station listing screen on each waveband, it is NOT on the Memory list screen.
  14. Hello Colin, Much has already been said on here about VAG’s current recommendation of not renewing belts until c140K miles, with no age limit. You will see from a search that the forum generally does not hold with that schedule, and suggests sticking with their previous recommendation of change at c75K miles, or 5 years - whichever comes first. The logic will be outlined in the searched threads, but basically boils down to VAG are not in the business to sell dealer time in changing cam belts - but selling new vehicles. If a vehicle’s engine expires due to belt breakage, then they have an opportunity to sell a new vehicle. Worth a search and a read Colin. Please let us know what you decide to do. Regards, Gareth.
  15. Any smell in the car I’d be looking at ant-bacterial treatment on air conditioning. You can get similar smell from screen wash reservoir if not using correct additive. If it’s from the car under load, next thing to check would be catalytic converters.
  16. No, never tried it. Cheapest VCDS package is £225 for 3 VIN licence, plus an old laptop. Works on all VAG cars, so Audi, VW, Skoda, etc. Very useful for this procedure. Remember and hook up battery on trickle charge when swapping out discs and pads. You can use it for fuel pump priming, clearing DTCs, fault finding, etc.

  18. Does that mean you were not given the service history by Audi when you purchased it?
  19. Only it it is any good, and you won't know that unless you get it tested, in which case you might as well get the fitted battery tested. Let me emphasise that simple voltage readings from a multimeter will not tell you if the battery is in good condition. A battery can show over 12 volts and yet have internal faults that can interfere with the delicate electronics of the car causing a variety of seemingly unrelated symptoms, one of those symptoms being a lack of error codes on low quality OBD readers. Until you get the battery tested we can not eliminate it as the cause of the starting problem.
  20. Hello thanks for the advice the ccm ending in a K is only up to 2002 the saloon I have is a 2001 I have found a ccm online identical part numbers so I must get that ordered and now I must try and salvage a few of my connectors instead of having to rewire in all new ones I was thinking of trying to split the case of my own ccm and salvage it but when I got to the inside I can firmly say it is long gone unfortunately hahaha
  21. Never did come back. Might be worth trying a PM if no response.
  22. Glad to hear the problem is solved and that you don't need yet another starter motor.
  23. There will be a means of adjusting the intensity of the instrument panel lights - are you sure this hasn’t been set to minimum? Do you have both dip and main beam lights? When you say ‘flash’ do you mean the headlamp flasher doesn’t work? Regards, Gareth.
  24. I doubt it Richard. Any significant modification usually invalidates the warranty, whether it is related to the problem or not. For your sake I'd be glad to be proved wrong.
