    Juddering

Hi Gareth, many thanks for the reply. It has done it very occasionally on the nearside, although today it has definitely more noticeable. Someone said "to me it sounds like the steering rack".... but I have no clue so it could be...🙂
  3. My AUDI 8P was driving normally, gears were shifting normally, no noises or knocks or anything. However, few days ago I started up the car, engine noise was normal, and then I proceed to put it into D however the car is not moving at all. Tried putting it into R as well and there is no movement. Car is revving normally however gears are not working. I feel like it is extremely strange that all of this happened just like that with no prior symptom of something within the gearbox going wrong. What could the issue potentially be? It has a DSG gearbox, have tried resetting the gearbox as well with no success. I've attached a video of the issue I'm facing. The car is A3 1.6 MPI TECHNIK 2009. IMG_0991.MOV

  5. I'd like to find a set of these alloys. I am not aware of any Audi part number but I believe they were a factory option for the Type 81/85 Audi 80/90 saloon (Sport) and GT Coupe. They are from the Ronal R8 range, 15x7 inch (as opposed to the 14x6 inch standard), 4x108PCD wheel nuts, ET42 offset. They appear to be identified by a Ronal code KBA-40834. I have found them elsewhere in Europe and I may end up sourcing them from overseas but thought I'd ask here first. I am aware that the same casting is machined to suit the Mk2 golf but obviously these are 4x100PCD and have ET25 offset so won't fit the 80/90/Coupe. Hope I've given enough info. Check the attached pictures. To my mind these are one of the few wheel upgrades that look correct and of the same 1980s period appearance as the standard fitment. Any further information or part number information to help my search would also be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

  10. Hi, Looking for thoughts.. I have a 2018 A5 sportback 2.0Tfsi...I've just returned from a 6hr drive to and from Cornwall the car never missed a beat..just aircon issues hoping its not anything more than a re-gas..after 3hrs of driving the blowing slowed down and the sir became warmer, turned the blower up to full and the airflow was very low, then a musty smell, which I presume is the aircon needing to be re-gassed.. small trips during the week no problems with the airflow or temperature but yhen the return trip home and after 3-4hrs the airflow was low and temperature warmed up..could this be a re-gas?, motor?, compressor? Thanks in advance
  11. Afternoon I have a failed parking sensor, is there any way of removing it for replacement without having to remove inner wheel arches? Thanks
  12. Hi Folks, recently brought my A3 2013 SPORT TFSI....loving it....i want to update the Sat Nav as car has 2013 version...where is best to get an up to date SD card...many thanks in advance....
  13. Thanks for your response and that makes sense I guess. I have had cars with twin rear fog lights in the past though. Just a bit odd that all the wiring appears present along with the bulb holder? Thanks again. Best regards, David
  14. Have him Jump the electrical connector to see if there is a problem with the pads ir your wireing harness
  15. Who are the actual insurers for your brokerage Dan? Regards, Gareth.
  16. Welcome Jeffrey, Sounds good. If it were mine, I would now treat it to a full service so you have a basing point to move forward from. If you need any advice on parts (brands) and where to get them, then please let us know. Regards, Gareth.
  17. Hi Alex, absolutely. I was able to approach this problem very well informed as a result of this forum. Thanks to all
  18. Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately they’re inside a casing or sheath so only the top can be accessed

  20. These two models offered in the UK differ by engine torque & horsepower. If I want to “update” a 45 TDI to a 50 TDI, then is it mostly just a Stage 1 remap?
  21. Hello Paul, Work on the principle that if you have checked all alternatives without solution, then you have to suspect the replaced component. In decades gone by, an unthinkable possibility. Regrettably now only too common a possibility. Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. That sounds good logic Garry. Good luck with finding it an appreciative home. Regards, Gareth.
  23. Welcome Mahmood. Would anyone be able to help with a recommendation for Mahmood? Regards, Gareth.
  24. Ya I’m thinking the same, thx for your advice, much appreciated.
  25. That seems to confirm it is the new camshaft causing the problem, though I don't understand how or why.
  26. I've done quite a bit of research to get to the bottom of this and I've seen it mentioned in several places that the build quality of some parts was not as good during the pandemic and improved significantly in 2023. Interestingly the part I removed was manufactured in October 2020 (pandemic) and the new part end of 2023 so there could be some truth to that.
  27. Great cars, the key is servicing with the recommended oil. If that’s done you shouldn’t have any major issues like timing chain. My A6 C7 Allroad 245hp is on 185,000 miles with no major issues. I bought it at 165k with full service history including gearbox service. I change the oil at +/- 5000 miles. If it doesn’t have gearbox service record then get it done immediately.
  28. Wondering if you bought the car? I have the 2014 A6 C7 Allroad 245hp. Currently on 185,000miles. It’s the best car I’ve owned. Service it regularly, including transmission at 60k, using the recommended oil and you shouldn’t have any problems. I’ve had very few issues with mine apart from the usual wear and tear items like wheel bearings, CV joints. Replaced both rear airbags, £150 ea on eBay, no major issues. I bought mine 3yrs ago with full Audi service history and have it serviced every +/- 5000 miles. Passes MOT each year with no issues. I would definitely buy a newer one however it’s hard for me to justify as only use it 6 months per year.
